Sunnyside - A New Quilt Pattern! | Finished or Not Friday Linky Party!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My Finish is a new quilt pattern!  Meet Sunnyside, an interlocking star design that includes 6 sizes from Baby to King and is Fat Quarter friendly!  This is the Large Lap size.

Selecting fabrics for Sunnyside is simple!  Choose two colors that play well together.  They could be a light and dark in the same hue, or two colors in the same value (as this quilt is), or they could be two colors in different values.  Then pick a background color to make the stars pop.  You can even look for FQ bundles that are two colors with a background color - many of them come this way.  This is the first time I've written a quilt pattern that includes a scrappy background fabric in the instructions; the background is also made from fat quarters.

I have plans to make Sunnyside with light and dark gray stars, as well as peach and navy stars, so you will definitely be seeing Sunnyside again!

Sunnyside is the second quilt pattern I've named after a town that has meant something to me.  The first quilt pattern named after a town was Outlook (visit that blog post), a blip on the map where my mom's parents lived until they moved next door to us when I was in my mid-teens.

Sunnyside is the small town right next to Outlook which we drove through to get to my grandparents' home, and I had two friends who lived there who became lifetime friends.  You can see some amazing pictures of Sunnyside, the town, right over here.  I was raised at the foot of those hills you see in those pictures, the Horse Heaven Hills.  I'm working toward naming a quilt after my hometown.

As an Island Batik Ambassador, I am given a monthly challenge to complete in their fabrics.  September's challenge is Stars, so Sunnyside came into being!  I happened upon the design when I was playing around in EQ8 one day.  This quilt was made with Alpine Jingle fabrics generously provided to me by Island Batik; even the scrappy background fabrics are from the collection.

Quilt Stats:
Pattern:  Sunnyside, on sale this weekend over here!
Size:  56" x 72", large lap size
Fabric:  Alpine Jingle by Island Batik
Batting:  Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 cotton/poly
Quilting:  Trees on Gratitude in red thread

Sunnyside is on sale this weekend in my pattern shop!

Blogger's Quilt Festival!

Sunnyside is my second entry in the Fall 2018 Blogger's Quilt Festival over at Amy's Creative Side.  Twice a year Amy hosts the BQF where we can share our favorite finishes with each other.  Be sure to go check out all of the amazing quilts linked up, and for sure share your favorite finish of the year!

Glorious Dawn Quilt-Along with Angela Walters!

How about a Live Quilt-Along with Angela Walters?  Sounds great, doesn't it?!?  See that quilt she's holding?  It's my design, my quilt, in her hands!  If you missed my post on Glorious Dawn, my quilt design that was chosen by Craftsy for their 2018 Quilt-Along, hop on over here to check it out!  Over there you'll find out how this privilege came to be mine and how you can get a queen size quilt kit in the colorway of your choice!!

And just because I can't resist showing you a picture of the whole quilt, here she is!  This is the Hydrangea colorway, and there are two other colorways available, each in three sizes - throw, twin, and queen.

Hi Myra! This quilt is fabulous. I think this is my favorite pattern of all of the ones you have released. I just love stars, and this quilt is full of them. Happy Friday to you! ~smile~ Roseanne

This is a great pattern; I love it. So many possibilities awaits in my stash. Sunnyside for me brings back memories of the street from my childhood. It was lined with trees and very shady and I always thought that was funny.

Another awesome quilt, but it's stars, of course it would be awesome!

An awesome pattern and I love the controlled scrappy color ways. Congrats on the Craftsy QAL. It is a beautiful pattern. Congrats on the celebrity endorsement too!

Congrats on a new, beautiful pattern, and for having Glorious Dawn the 2018 Craftsy QAL! I'm curious about that quilt - for each increase in size, do the block sizes increase too? That's the only thing I can figure that takes up 23 pages.
