Layer Cake Custard Shortcut Quilt | Finished or Not Friday Linky Party!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Do you love quick quilts made from precuts?  I sure do!  The Fat Quarter Shop is releasing a new Shortcut Quilt today, and I'm excited to share it with you!  Meet the Layer Cake Custard quilt - a twin size beauty!

Quilting is on point squares, adding wonderful texture to the modern quilt.

Below is the original Layer Cake Custard Quilt.  I changed it up by using two colors in the background rather than one.  It gives it an entirely different look.

The Fat Quarter Shop's Shortcut Quilt patterns are all about making quilts quickly, and the Layer Cake Custard pattern is definitely a striking quick quilt!  This pattern is a great way to use a layer cake.

Be sure you check out the other versions of this quilt over on the FQS Jolly Jabber blog and get the FREE pattern here!

Your changes were dramatic as I thought to myself this is not the same quilt. It's amazing how a little change can make a totally different look.

Hi Myra, your fabric colours really pop against the black. Your quilt is really stunning.

I like your version SO MUCH BETTER than the original -- I would never have realized those were even the same pattern. The quilting you did is amazing, too. How did you quilt that design? Is it a computerized long arm pattern, or did you mark it somehow and/or use rulers? It's just beautiful!
