Laurel Queen Size Quilt Kit

Today I can reveal some of last year's Secret Sauce Sewing!  Laurel is a queen size quilt pattern I designed for Bluprint in June of 2019 with their beautiful new fabric collection, Dutch Garden III.

Laurel is a square medallion quilt with wide borders centered around a giant star, and it's made with very large HSTs and squares which make the quilt go together very quickly.  I made this quilt sample in two days, from cutting to binding; it is quick!

Yes, I do have an orange wall in my house!  Both of my boys {men, actually} moved out last year, and I've only painted one of their bedrooms.  This room with the orange wall is on my to-paint list.

I used wool batting in this quilt to emphasize the quilting and to minimize fold lines when it is displayed.

Dutch Garden has been such a bestseller at Bluprint that this is now the third collection by the name.  There is something very sweet about blue and yellow quilts.  I love the high quality of the fabric; it has a substantial feel to it with a tight weave, and a soft hand.

Would you believe that this picture below is approximately my height?!?  Too funny, right!?  The quilt is 96" square and over half of it is displayed, then adding in the height off of the floor - approximately 5', and that is me!  You can't tell it's that height just by looking at the picture though, but wouldn't it be comical with me standing next to it?!?  :)

The queen size quilt kit is available only at Bluprint, and the pattern is not available separately at this time.  You will find the quilt kit right over here.

That is lovely! I actually bought a fat quarter stack of Dutch Garden last month. Blue and yellow go so well together, fresh and summery!
