Kindred Throw Quilt in Notting Hill!

It's exciting to share another quilt in Notting Hill - one of my favorite fabric collections!  I just love the blend of colors together, very softly muted but still with a lot of color; with florals, tone-on-tones, ginghams, and plaids.  It's so yummy!

Notting Hill is featured in a brand-new quilt pattern called Kindred.  This is a fat quarter friendly quilt pattern that features HSTs and log cabin-ish quilt blocks with accent fabrics that create secondary designs across the quilt top.

The Kindred quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

So Many Quilt Sizes!

The Kindred quilt pattern includes 5 quilt sizes - Baby, Throw, Twin XL, Queen, and King.

The Baby quilt size is 48" x 48" and uses 8 fat quarters.

The Throw quilt size is 60" x 72" and uses 15 fat quarters.  This quilt is the Throw size.

The Twin XL bed quilt is 72" x 96" and uses 24 fat quarters.

The Queen bed quilt is 96" x 108" and uses 36 fat quarters.

The King bed quilt is 108" x 108" and uses 41 fat quarters.

Precut Friendly Fat Quarter Quilt Pattern

The Kindred quilt pattern is a fat quarter friendly quilt pattern.  It's a great way to use up your fat quarter stash that you have on hand, or buy more if you need to.  Not every quilter has a stash!

Sweet Heart Fabrics is one of my favorite fabric shops on Etsy.  They have a great selection of fat quarter bundles that are perfect for the Kindred quilt pattern.

The Binding can be cut from the fat quarters in all of the quilt sizes, except the Baby.

This quilt top was made by my sewist, Kare.

The quilt hanging on the ladder is also made with Notting Hill fabrics.  The design is Skyline Divide, available right here.  Skyline Divide is jelly roll friendly, includes 5 sizes, and is strip pieced for a quick finish.

Oh Those Fabrics!

The fabrics in this quilt are the Notting Hill collection, designed by Amy Smart for Riley Blake.  I love the blend of the designs with the red, aqua, yellow, pink, and navy.   Notting Hill has been out for awhile, but it's still available in limited amounts.  You'll find these fabrics right here.  The dark accent is Windsor, and the light accent is white, both Kona Cotton Solids.

The backing fabric is a navy vine maze design on white, available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.  This backing is great at hiding the quilting on the back of the quilt.

This quilt was bound in Kona Cotton Solid in Windsor.  The binding could have been cut from the fat quarters, but I chose not to do that since I wanted to have the leftover strips available for a future quilt.  :)

Longarm Quilting

This Throw size Kindred quilt is quilted with a Pinwheel design in white thread, done on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher.  The Pinwheels are made of half circles.

The Quilt Design

What surprised me about Kindred is the secondary designs that are seen as the blocks come together.  I didn't expect this, because the computer design software didn't show this.  It was only when the quilt was assembled that I first noticed it.  Such a pleasant surprise!  It isn't always apparent, and it seems like it's only apparent at certain angles.  :)
