Sewing Mother Daughter Skirts

This weekend's project has been sewing Millie and myself matching skirts.  Millie's is a tiered skirt that is very full. {The bottom skirt width is 82"!!}  She asked for a hoop to go underneath, and Mr. Hearts is mysteriously holed up in his shop today ... could it be he is making a hoop?!?  This is the first time I have added ribbon trim to a tiered skirt, and it makes the skirt come alive and is worth the extra effort.  Here is the pattern I used for her skirt. 

Mine is a simple 8-panel, A-line, no waistband skirt which I copied from one of my denim skirts.  All eight panels are the same pattern piece, so it is easy to keep track of them.  I haven't sewn a skirt that fit this well in years {something to do with those extra curves?}, so I am quite tickled with it.  Plus, it was the first time I attempted an invisible zipper, and it was really easy ... but then I have been sewing for 30 years {gasp!}, so I have lots of practice figuring {and ripping} things out. 



Looks just like a Christopher and Banks skirt!
