Ta-da! I am so tickled with the Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt-Along reveal! Some of the quilt-alongers on Facebook have not been pleased with the pattern in combination with their fabrics, but I love my crazy dots with this bold, twirly pattern! I would decorate my entire house this way if I could! This fabric is a repurposed quilt kit from Craftsy!
I've laid out four blocks on my design wall and will work on assembling them next week. They are not sewn together in this pic.
Mrs.Bernina started making a funny nose a few days ago and, rather than ignore it since she was still stitching, I had my handy Mr.Fix-It take a look. He figured out that the carbon brushes in the motor need replaced. An inexpensive and simple fix {hopefully!} once they arrive. It means no real sewing in the meantime! I do have a backup machine, but I am not sure about it stitching an exact 1/4" seam, and I don't want to mess this one up! Plus, Mrs.Bernina is a real pleasure to sew on compared to my backup.
This bold and lovely flimsy {I learned a new word from the Stashbusters Yahoo Group!} will be a queen size quilt. My daughter has claimed it as her own and wants it in her room! It matches her blue and green walls perfectly. Ka-Ching!!

I love the way your quilt turned out. It's lovely. If you don't mind me asking, how old is your Bernina? I have a new one that is a dud. I'm currently waiting on a replacement from the manufacturer.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colors, and the sashing is perfect, it tends to 'tame' the block. I will look forward to seeing your top completed.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are so fun!
ReplyDeleteYour blocks let me think of New Year's Eve with firework display and sparkling champagne! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove all those dots! Looks great! Sorry about your Bernina!
ReplyDeleteLove your fabric choices
ReplyDeleteI love the dots!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic in al those dotty fabrics. Lucky daughter!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have a place for this quilt to go already! The dots are a fun fabric in this pattern. I'm fighting the urge to change the pattern even more than I already have...
ReplyDeleteOh yes, you have a real winner there with your fabric choices. Keep working away on it -- it is worth the effort! Sorry the machine is giving you grief. I hate when I have problems... wait ... I seldom have machine problems and my backups aren't too bad. But, honestly, nothing sews like a Bernina.
ReplyDeleteYour Grand Illusion looks really cool Myra! The polka dotted fabrics create an effervescent look that I just love! No wonder you daughter laid claim to this quilt!
