Parallels Batik Table Runner {A Gift}

Yesterday I completed a batik table runner as a birthday gift for my father-in-law's wife.  The blues are so pretty together!


It's a whopping 66" long which is perfect for their large table.


The pattern is very simple to assemble - it's strips sewn together and then cut at an angle with sashing added.


The Parallels Table Runner Kit is available at Craftsy in three colorways - purple, sand, and teal.  The kit includes the pattern and fabric for the quilt top and binding.  It is currently on sale during Craftsy's Spring Blowout Sale as is all fabric, quilting kits, and sewing kits!

  • Fabric/Binding:  Malam Batik by Jinny Beyer
  • Batting:  Fusible 80/20 cotton/poly
  • Backing:  Navy blue batik from the stash.
  • Quilting:  Allover small meandering in black thread on Mrs.Bernina, my old 830 which was my grandmother's.
  • Value:  Heartwarming!
The fabric included in the kit was quite a bit more than was required, so I'm combining it with my batik stash for a quick quilt top using the Jelly Roll Race idea.  There are a variety of strip widths in my stash, so there are three different strip widths in the quilt top.  You'll see that soon!  There is also a nice stack of 2.5" squares, and I'm going to cut some black squares to use them as a leader/ender project, something I've never done!  This will completely wipe out my batik stash!  Yeah!  Another box off the shelf {or maybe a spot for fabric that is currently homeless!}

    The blues are lovely! The meandering quilting design gives the effect of rippling clear blue water. Such a beautiful birthday present.

    Oh my goodness, these are stunning. I love the shades of blue and that dark border really helps the colors stand out. Love it!
