Happy Quilting Melissa has announced another quilt along this summer! I love how well written her instructions are, so I participate in her QALs whenever possible. The schedule, fabric requirements and prizes were released at Happy Quilting Melissa today. Keep reading - I need your help with background selection!
My quilt will be a queen size in a 3x3 block layout with 28" blocks. I've picked 9 Amy Butler Love prints from my stash. Their large prints should work fine since the fabrics won't be cut overly small with huge 28" blocks. I bought the prints when Craftsy had an amazing sale on Amy Butler fat quarters. The backing will also be an Amy Butler print, also purchased from Craftsy.
I have a question for you - light gray or white background? I've pictured both. I'm after saleability since this quilt will be for sale when it's completed in September. Thanks so much for your help!

Wow, this is a tough one Myra. I am inclined towards white, since it is so fresh looking with those fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI like the white. I had to look again, I thought you had changed the fabrics, it was such a difference.
ReplyDeleteI like the light gray.
ReplyDeleteI vote for the white, it will really make the fat quarters pop.
ReplyDeleteMmm! Mmm! LOVE these bright prints. I personally like the looks of white, but would I buy a quilt with a white background? My mind automatically goes to how easily dirt would show on it. I guess it would depend on what the quilt is going to be used for. For show, white. For use, gray. How is that for being non committal?
ReplyDeleteI vote for white too. The gray one looks like a cloudy day.
ReplyDeleteWhite for sure...I love the grey, but there is white is several of the prints so I think it would really pop those prints. Going to be lovely!
