Slow Sunday Stitching | Rainbow Crochet Afghan

My Slow Sunday Stitching is a crochet rainbow afghan for my bed.  We've had a really cold spell here, and the covers just aren't enough, so it's the perfect excuse to make a rainbow afghan for on top of my rainbow quilt since the yarn always comes out this time of year anyway.

I started Lazy Waves last Sunday afternoon and have made this progress over the last week.  Right now it's about 12" x 65".  There are 16 colors, and the plan is to keep up the rainbow pattern as established, finishing the edges with white.  The size will be determined by the amount of yarn it uses up; this is entirely from my yarn stash, and I'm not buying any more for this project.

My grandma was an amazing crocheter, and she was the queen of hiding yarn tails.  The afghans she made still do not have the yarn ends poking out 40 years later, something I haven't mastered.  I found this tutorial on weaving in the ends, a method I had never seen before, and it must have been her trick.  I'm giving it a go this time, and hopefully it works.

You can see what others are slow stitching today over at Kathy's Quilts.

  1. That is very pretty! Since I discovered quilting, I don't have the patience to crochet any more. Plus I used to crochet while watching tv and we haven't been watching too much.

  4. I love your afghan with all of the bright and happy colors. Please post a picture of the entire quilt when finished. Could you please give me the link to the method of weaving the yarn tails? The link in your post didn't work for me. Thank you!
