Welcome to my stop on The Great Outdoors Blog Hop, a whirlwind event where the Island Batik Ambassadors showcase new Island Batik Spring and Summer 2018 fabric collections!
Meet British Rose, a beautiful collection of pinks, purples, and turquoise in a variety of designs including roses and butterflies! The vibrant colors were such a pleasure to work with.
The timeless Trip Around the World design lets the British Rose fabric collection really sparkle. Sixteen of the 20 prints in the collection were included in this quilt, with a few other fabrics from Check It Out and other collections added in for variety. The turquoise fabrics were placed to create the diagonal chains in the blocks, and the scrappy binding seemed like the perfect finish to a scrappy-looking quilt.
As an Island Batik Ambassador, I am provided with an assortment of Island Batik fabrics, Aurifil thread, and Hobbs batting twice a year. Each month there is a challenge for the Ambassadors to complete. This month's challenge is to use a brand new fabric collection in a quilt larger than 36" square for The Great Outdoors Blog Hop. The quilt doesn't have to have an outdoor theme, for which I'm glad since I'm not sure I would have been able to wrap my brain around combining these fabrics with an outdoor theme! Okay, so maybe the Outdoor theme meshes with the Trip Around the World design. We'll go with that!!
Quilt Stats:
Pattern: Trip Around the World
Size: 63.5" square
Fabric: British Rose, Check It Out, plus a few other prints, all by Island Batik.
Batting: Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 cotton/poly
Quilting: Dragons Breath on Gratitude in purple thread.
This quilt is for sale in my quilt shop!
Island Batik fabrics are available at one of my local quilt shops, Tangled Threads Quilt Shop in Lynden, Washington, and the new collections could be showing up on your shop's shelves soon! If your local quilt shop doesn't carry Island Batik fabrics yet, ask them to! You can also find Island Batik fabrics on Etsy.

ReplyDeleteOne comment, it seems you need to do each previous entry to "unlock" the others on rafflecopter. I don't have instagram, so I'm out the other entries because I can't see what they are, but if they had been facebook or subscribing or pinterest, I would have done those. Other entries allow you to view the all without it being progressive; perhaps you would be willing to consider that not everyone has each type of social media account.
