Jelly Roll Waves Ideas
You will find previously posted inspirational images of Jelly Roll Waves quilts in this blog post. I have become obsessed with making blocks and have two sets to show you for additional inspiration.
Hanging on my design wall are the blocks for a Large Lap size in Scrumptious by Bonnie and Camille with a couple of other prints tossed in. The background is Kona Snow. This one is traditionally pieced {piece by piece sewn together} with a layer cake that had previously been cut into strips. The consensus on Instagram was random fabric placement rather than grouping the fabrics by color in each wave. I'm glad I did it this way; I like it a lot!
The second set of blocks I'm making are from Alison Glass prints. The light fabrics are from the Sun Print Light collection, available as a FQ bundle right here. The bright prints are from 2016 and 2018. These quilt blocks will be completely different than any other JRW quilt I've made; the light fabrics will be the waves and the bright fabrics will be the jewels {or crescent rolls!}. This quilt will be strip pieced, and each light fabric is paired with a matching bright print, so the jewels will be multicolored and hopefully sparkle like jewels!
It's your turn to share your fabric selection! This isn't for blocks or cut fabric like I showed for inspiration. Share your delicious pile of fabrics with us so we can pet it with you!
If you need help with linking up, Cheryl at Meadow Mist Designs wrote a detailed blog post on this very subject. Hop on over here to read it.
