Citron Breeze by Kathy Engle for Island Batik
The Citron Breeze fabric collection is designed by Kathy Engle for Island Batik. Batik fabrics are known for their saturated colors, and this one is no exception! Bold blues and citron blend perfectly in this quilt design.
You can see the entire Citron Breeze fabric collection by Kathy Engle in the Island Batik Spring/Summer 2023 Catalog lookbook on Pages 130-134.
The fabric for this quilt was provided by Island Batik. This quilt was sewn by Joanne Hubbard, and quilted and bound by me.
The Around the World Quilt Pattern
You may be curious as to what makes this pattern different than other Trip Around the World quilts.
The Around the World pattern by Busy Hands Quilts includes 4 sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, and Queen. All sizes are the exact same design with varying piece sizes in each quilt size. All sizes use the same number of fabrics.
Pressing Instructions: Many of you tell me how much you appreciate the pressing instructions in Busy Hands Quilts patterns, a feature that is included in the majority of my patterns. This pattern includes pressing instructions so the seams will nest together, thereby improving piecing accuracy. Pressing to the side also helps seams not pop open when the quilt is used, especially when the quilting holding all three layers isn't very dense.
The pattern includes detailed diagrams and instructions that will help you with fabric placement at every step of the quilt top assembly process, as well as how to create this quilt without sewing individual squares together.
So Many Quilt Sizes!
The Around the World quilt pattern includes four sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, and Queen.
Baby size 42" x 50"
Lap size 53" x 63"
Throw size 63" x 75"
Queen bed size 89" x 106"
The design of all of the sizes is the same, and all sizes use the same number of fabrics; piece sizes vary by quilt size.
Longarm Quilting
This quilt top was made by my sewist, Joanne Hubbard, and quilted and bound by me.
The digital quilting design is Pradesh, stitched out in blue thread on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher. The blue thread blends in with the bold blue backing fabric.
The deep blue binding is the same deep blue accent found in several chains in the quilt top.
Fabric Selection and Placement
For your Around the World quilt, you'll choose ten coordinating or blending fabrics and add an accent fabric. You'll need to decide which round each fabric is placed in. Then, label each fabric according to the fabric numbers in the quilt pattern.
Fabrics are Citron Breeze by Kathy Engle for Island Batik, a wonderfully saturated fabric collection. :)
Quilt Binding Love
The binding on this Around the World quilt is the navy floral which was used as the accent fabric in the quilt top, the perfect fabric to frame the quilt. Attached by machine to the back and pulled around to the front.
The Around the World quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.
