1620 pieces of fabric became these amazing Sparkler blocks! It's one block short because I didn't use the brown strips in the jelly rolls and I forgot to make that up with another color, but that is an easy fix and will be very quick after the hours and hours it took to make 80 blocks! It's impossible to make the color layout perfectly symmetrical, meaning all of one color in a diagonal row, since I used Kona jelly rolls rather than yardage in selected colors. Using Kona jelly rolls has the advantage of 40 different colors that are all precut and ready to use.
Each block measures 12" when finished, and the quilt top will be 108" square. This is nearly the maximum size my long-arm machine rollers can hold.

ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing it all put together and quilted!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Your arrangement may not be symmetrical, but it is very balanced.
ReplyDeleteAt first glance it looked symmetrical to me. I had to take a good look to realise it wasn't. You've done a lovely job balancing the colours.
ReplyDeleteYour color placement looks great. That is a stunning quilt top.
