Welcome to Finished {or Not!} Friday where you can share what you're working on and see what others have been making!
{Not} Finished is the story of my quilting projects this year. I'm up to my eyeballs in pattern designing, and my longarm is out for maintenance. I do have a growing pile of quilt tops to quilt though.
Here are some {Not} Finished test quilt blocks for a pattern that will be in one of your favorite quilting catalogs this fall.
But wait! I must show you the March 2019 Sew Sampler Box from Fat Quarter Shop. It is a lovely box of goodies.
March's Sew Sampler Box includes:
- Chantilly Jolly Bar - See it unrolled right over here.
- Sprouts quilt pattern - not available anywhere else except this box.
- Spool Huggers - these will be great for heavier threads that come unraveled, such as hand-quilting weight threads.
- Barn Block #12 pattern.
- 7" Titanium Scissors
- A Bonus quilt pattern.
Purchased separately, these items would cost $59, but the Sew Sampler Box sells for $24.95 plus $5 shipping. Ya oughta check it out!
And what is this silicone pad? It's a Sew Hot Iron Rest. It allows a regular iron to mimic an expensive self-raising iron for a tiny fraction of the cost of that brand. Instead of setting the iron upright after each press, you simply lay it on top of this rest. I used it to press those blocks up there, and it was so nice to not have to move the iron so much to press all of those units.
The other benefit of this Iron Rest is the iron stays in steam mode rather than shutting off every time it is set upright. It's a keeper, and I won't be giving it away!
Did you know I give away the items in each Sew Sampler Box that I don't need? Yep, I do! You'll find the Giveaway here on the blog when I have completed the project that comes in the box.

Nice box of goodies! I’ve never seen an iron rest like that one. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteI didn't really know what the iron rest was for, either, and I think you've convinced me to add one to my collection. I can't even begin to count how many times I have nearly knocked my iron to the floor or burned my arm while it was sitting upright.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what your new pattern will be, and in which catalogue it will appear!
That iron rest is amazing. I'm on the hunt for a new iron. Can't wait to see what becomes of your blocks.
