Hunter's Star Table Runner for Fat Quarter Shop Quilt Along | Finished or Not Friday Linky Party!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My Finish is two table runners as part of The Fat Quarter Shop's Hunters Star Quilt Along, featured on their blog today.  Be sure to head on over there to see what others have made with the latest pattern in FQS's Classic and Vintage series.

The quilting shows really well because there are two layers of batting inside - one is heat resistant, and the other is regular cotton.  It's the thickest, stiffest quilt I have ever made, and I love that I will be able to use it without putting ugly hotpads on it to protect the table.

I tell my family - the first one to spill on it dies, and then after that, it no longer matters if it's spilled on!

Did you catch that?  This is for ME.  I rarely quilt for myself, so it's a real treat when I do keep one.  One of my goals this year as I quilt as an Island Batik Ambassador and as I quilt along with The Fat Quarter Shop is that I will make more quilts for myself.

I made it double-sided with a Holly Holderman print as the backing.  This is a single piece of fabric and is not pieced squares.

But wait, there's more!  The pattern had such large triangles left that I made a second table runner out of the leftover pieces.  {{Pats self on back for not tossing them into the Scrap Giveaway Box!}}  This one is made with two layers of batting.

I quilted the two table runners at the same time.  You can see them on my quilting machine in this Instagram picture.  If you like fun in-progress pictures, follow me on Instagram.  You'll get a much more detailed look into my sewing life on a daily basis on Instagram.  More of my quirky side comes out in the hashtags I use on Instagram. I had to iron the checked table cloth for this photoshoot, and that picture said #whohastimetoirontablecloths and #mustbeimportant.  :)

Great job on making the table runners! I like that you used the second layer of batting to make it heat resistant. You're so clever!

Fabulous quilting Myra on your Hunter's Star tablerunners!

I love making giant hotpad table runners! I would rather have them than a bunch of random hotpads also. Have a wonderful weekend!

Good for you, Myra! Feels good to have something so pretty to keep for yourself. I love your quilting! Your batting sure did its job here. Hope your family is careful!

Look at you with your runners! Love when those dratted cut-offs become something else sooner rather than later (or not at all...). The main runner is great Myra, lovely texture with the double-layer of batting. I LOL at the "first one...dies" comment!
