Coming out of the box of quilt tops awaiting quilting this week is a Rolling Around design in Market Street, a vivid collection of beautiful prints by Heather Peterson. This quilt top was made sewn back in 2024!
The Rolling Around quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop. It's perfect for 10" layer cake squares or fat quarters!
Rolling Around Pattern Features
The Rolling Around quilt pattern is quick and easy to make with snowball and square in a square quilt blocks. This is a good pattern for fairly new quilters.
Do you have favorite large prints that you don't want to cut up into small pieces? This is the pattern for those prints! The stunning focal prints can be placed in the rolling blocks with the smaller or your less favorite prints placed in the smaller square blocks.
It's easy to use your stash to make your Rolling Around quilt, because instructions for using either 10" layer cake squares or fat quarters are included in the pattern. Add in a contrasting background fabric, which would typically be a solid, and you're all set! The background in this quilt is Kona Navy for a bold contrast against the vivid prints.
With 8 sizes included in the pattern, you are all set for whatever size you're looking to make. From Baby to King and with two Throw sizes, you are seriously covered!
The Fabric Collection
This quilt is made with a 10" square layer cake of Market Street by Heather Peterson for Riley Blake Designs. At the time this quilt was made two years ago way back in 2024, this was a current collection. Since then Heather Peterson has released a similar collection which should still be available: First Blooms.
This delightful collection includes vivid teal, red, green, peachy orange, yellow, green, and navy with a few creamy fabrics. Prints include florals, tone-on-tones, and stripes, and the colors and prints play so well together that they are all included in this quilt.
This quilt top was professionally pieced by Joanne Hubbard in 2024. And there are quilt tops in the awaiting quilting box that were sewn before this one by a few years!
Longarm Machine Quilting
The digital longarm quilting design used on this quilt is Cottage Core by Melissa Kelley of Sew Shabby Pantos. This design, with flowers, spirals, leaves, and circles suits the fabrics in this quilt so well.
This quilt top was quilted by me on my Handi Quilter Amara with ProStitcher with Superior Omni Thread in Navy.
Eight Quilt Sizes in All
To help you with planning your Rolling Around quilt, here are the quilt sizes and fabric requirements. This quilt is perfect for using up your 10" layer cake squares or fat quarters you have in your stash.
