I Couldn't Resist! Allietare Quilt Along {Fabric Selection} + GIVEAWAY!

Oh, I tried to resist, yes, ma'am, I did.  To no avail.  I've been sucked in once again by Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville Winter Mystery quilt along, Allietare, with an Italian theme.  Oh, I tried not to be.  Really, I did.

I went through my stash several times over the last few weeks and couldn't find enough of the suggested colors, so I was off the hook.  YIPPEE!!  Then I went through my stash again with the idea in mind that I'd use other colors, and none of it said YES, so once again I was able to say NO to participating!!

Then I saw the first clue released with an exorbitant amount of tiny HSTs and said NO WAY, that's way too many HSTs.  My resistance increased!  Then I saw a post about using the Accuquilt Go! to cut the HSTs, and that, my friend, was the beginning of the end of my resistance!  I bought the necessary die on Accuquilt's Cyber Monday Week sale, and then began deliberating fabrics again.

Today I was looking at a quilt on my wall made from Bee My Honey fabrics and realized they were the suggested colors in the QAL, so off I went in search of those fabric scraps.  I'm very weird about my scraps, and I keep fabric collections together instead of sorting by color which is ridiculous, I know, but in this case made finding the fabrics simple.  And whether it's good news or bad news remains to be seen, but I managed to find enough of the scraps, and by tossing in my favorite go-to dots and various shades of solids, voila, I've enough of the suggested colors to quilt along!  100% stash, and I've even a matching print for the backing.  I've switched out the black for navy since Bee My Honey has navy rather than black, and I've a lot more of navy than black in my stash.

And that's my Allietare story!

First! lol. I didn't see explicitly stated that we enter to win the scrap box by making a comment here, but I'm gonna go with that theory. I LOVE pre-washed because I am a pre-washer, so usually when I see scrap-box offerings they are not pre-washed and I have to skip it! Definitely could use these because I'm swimming in yardage and very low on small pieces. P.S. I'm still trying to resist Alietere because I have to change colors and use one fabric each color to reduce the yardage mentioned above, but they are set aside.

Your fabric selection is lovely! It's hard to resist a Bonnie mystery once you have done one. They are addictive!

Oh, I can see why you were unable to resist! The accuquilt dies scream too loudly to play! I am on my way to check out this quilt along. I haven't done one in a long time.

Resistance is futile!!! LOL What about a reduced number of components, instead of not participating. Sewing along is SEW much FUN!!!

I'm avoiding her blog because I hate getting sucked into making 500 hsts or whatever they always seem to start with. Lol.

I have had a great time when I've taken part in quilt or sew alongs. They are hard to resist when seen for sure.
I have so many projects now that I just feel lost!

Oh how I love scraps! Thanks for the give-away! It is really difficult to figure out rafflecopter works, by the way. I am hoping this comment counts s an entry.

I thought I recognized an Allietare fabric pull in that thumbnail! (at WIP Wed.) I watched six of those mysteries go by, resisting because of my work backlog, and regretting every single time that I did not participate. No more of that! Last year I decided I would step in *IF* I could pull everything from stash and scraps, which worked just great. This year, I did hesitate momentarily because I have nowhere near enough neutrals to pull it off. But then I decided to shift colors around a smidge, which gave me what I need if I picked up just a handful of FQ's for black and one color. My goal is to get everything cut out each Friday, with one sample set sewn together, so I can come back to it in January. No way on earth am I going to get that much mystery sewing done this month between quilt gifts and family vacation time! :)
