Custom Queen 30s Basket Quilt | Finished or Not Friday Linky Party

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My finish is a custom queen size 1930s reproduction basket quilt.  This is the third quilt I've made for this customer!

I used a jelly roll of 30s Playtime 2017 to create the basket flowers because it was the most cost effective way to get a snippet of the entire collection.  It was the first time I've used two strips sewn into a tube and then cut into HSTs.  They end up with bias edges, but that wasn't a problem for the tiny HSTs.  I wonder if this method for larger HSTs would be problematic, however.  Probably nothing a little starch wouldn't solve.

I was so excited when my customer agreed on the Baptist Fan quilting design that I suggested.  It would have been a common quilting design on a quilt in the 30s, though of course done by hand and not a computerized quilting machine.

Quilt Stats:

Pattern:   Basket Quilt, layout designed by me in EQ7, though of course the basket block is an antique block.
Size:  Queen 95" square.
Fabric:  30s Playtime 2017 by Moda
Quilting:  Baptist Fans on Gratitude.
Batting:  Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 cotton/poly
Backing:  Toy Chest 2 by Riley Blake

I wasn't sure I was going to like this pattern since it was old fashioned, but I like it very much! I really like how the yellow goes with the baskets and of course the beautiful fan quilting. It is perfect!
