Jelly Roll Railway Twin Quilt | Finished or Not Friday Linky Party!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My Finish is a twin size Jelly Roll Railway quilt, begun exactly one year ago this week as part of last year's National Sew a Jelly Roll Day!  Nothing like another NSAJRD {ha ha!} coming around to motivate one to finish the project from the year before!!

The Jelly Roll Railway pattern includes instructions for Crib, Lap, Twin, and Queen sizes.  I made the Lap size but increased the border by 3" to make it a twin size with the number of blocks I had already made.

I considered adding gray triangles to an inner border to complete the gray squares on the edges but decided it would take too much mathy math and time.  And I'm glad I didn't; I rather like the triangles; they look like ribbons folded over!

I was tickled to find the perfect Widescreen backing in blue by Carolyn Friedlander in my stash.  I'd been hoarding it, so it was at the bottom of the extra-wide backing pile and not visible until I thumbed through the fabrics for a closer look.  It's my all . time . favorite backing ever, and it also comes in the perfect gray that matches so many quilts I make.  You'll find it in 15 colors over here.

Quilt Stats:
Pattern:  Jelly Roll Railway, a FREE pattern over here.
Size:  67" x 84", twin size
Fabric:  Boundless Ombre and Kona White
Batting:  Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 cotton/poly
Backing:  Widescreen in blue by Carolyn Friedlander
Quilting:  Hexies on Gratitude in white thread

This quilt is for sale in my Quilt Shop!

National Sew a Jelly Roll Day is Saturday, September 15th.

What are you planning on sewing on NSAJRD?  I am planning on cutting into a very long hoarded {5 Years!!} California Girl jelly roll to make a Scrappy Patches quilt - if I can bear it!  If I can't, I'll use an Island Batik 2.5" strip pack that I received as an Island Batik Ambassador.

You'll save up to 40% off Jelly Rolls at Fat Quarter Shop through Sunday!  It's a great time to stock up!

I've been thinking about that day tomorrow, didn't even finish the top I started last year! Love your quilt, and I agree, I like the triangles as they are to create that ribbon effect!

Thank you for the linky party. I've been trying to use up scraps before purchasing more fabric. I may have to consider your quilt if I ever reach my strips. Denise@fortheloveofgeese

Your quilt is beautiful, I love these fabrics! And your triangles are just the perfect shape for it. Beautiful gallery of featured quilts too!

Hi Myra! What a great finish for today. I just love the ombre fabrics - if this was a kit, I would snap one up in a minute. I suppose I could put my own kit together. I have to look at the pattern and see how much each fabric requires. I really LOVE this, and the QUILTING!! It looks like a ribbon too - just a perfect choice. I'm sure someone will snap this up quickly. ~smile~ Roseanne

Love your rainbow quilt! Fun use of a jelly roll. I probably will not be able to participate in the jelly roll a thon. I need to pack for a quilting retreat.

I love your Jelly Roll Railway quilt, but I looked for the pattern and there is nothing by that name. Could it be a different name. Or under one of the manufacturers?

Your jelly roll quilt is so beautiful and inspiring. I don't usually purchase jelly rolls because I feel so limited, but this is amazing!
