I'm so excited to share Mandalynn with you - she's a happy new quilt pattern that includes 4 sizes - Throw, Twin, Queen, and King. You know I love me a rainbow, so deciding what fabrics to use for Mandalynn was really, really easy - a rainbow, of course! 🌈
There is a funny story behind the name Mandalynn, which is a nickname for my son's girlfriend. For each pattern I design, I have a file that holds all of the details of the pattern, the math, the block labels, etc. Last summer when I was working on this design, the Mandalynn file was propped inside the file holder on my desk. My son with the girlfriend whose nickname is Mandalynn saw it in my office when he was visiting, and his eyes got really big, a shocked look appeared on his face, and he said, "You have a file on Mandalynn?!?!?" He thought I had a file on his girlfriend!!! 😂😂😂 So incredibly funny!
Usually I would first choose the focus fabric and then pick coordinates to go with it, but this time I had a bundle of rainbow batiks, and I found the focus fabric to match the batiks. The rainbow bundle is from Bluprint, specifically chosen so you could make this same quilt, but then alas, no Bluprint! :( The focus fabric is from Fabric.com. I bought an entire bolt. :)
Fabric selection is a focus print with 4 coordinating colorways, each colorway with 3 hues - light, medium, and dark. Don't worry, the pattern outlines exactly how to cut and label the pieces to keep it all straight. I have taken to the detailed labeling of pieces in my pattern writing so there is no question about exactly where something goes.
Fabric requirements do not include fat quarters because they don't work for all sizes, but in the smaller sizes, you could perhaps use fat quarters - just cut the number of pieces indicated in the pattern. Using an Accuquilt is also a possibility - there are dies in these sizes - but again, I did not include cutting instructions for an Accuquilt.
This quilt top was sewn by Joanne from Everyone Deserves a Quilt, quilted and finished by me. This quilt is a twin size. I am waffling about whether or not to sell it or keep it. 😍

Such a pretty design, Myra! SEW sad that we can no longer make a quilt exactly like yours. :o((
Would you mind saying what quilting pattern that was? Stunning, especially on used diagonally. Thanks!
It's a striking pattern Myra! The feature fabric is lovely and looks so good in the border.
Great pattern. It's so bright and colourful. Love the story on the name.
