Ships Ahoy Quilt Pattern
The Ships Ahoy quilt pattern in the Just One Charm Pack Quilts Book is a charm pack quilt with a single background fabric with a border. The large blocks go together very quickly. They are reminiscent of life rings on a ship, thus the quilt pattern name, Ships Ahoy. The design in the book has nine blocks set 3x3, but this quilt has only four blocks set in a single row.
I alternated the fabric colors in every other block, navy with red. Every other block has red star print with navy florals, alternating with blocks with navy star print and red florals.
The Just One Charm Pack Quilts Book
This beautiful book includes 18 projects that use just one charm pack and two additional yardage fabrics. Each quilt is shown in two different colorways to help get your creative juices flowing to create a quilt that reflects your personal style. The quilts are baby size through small lap size, are very beginner friendly, and are traditionally pieced (no applique or paper piecing). This is my kind of book! :) You can get a signed copy of the book right here.
If you're like me and don't collect charm packs, the patterns work really well with scraps from your stash. As an added bonus, the book teaches you how to create your own charm packs.
The Red, White, and Blue!
Since I was making this quilt for my own dining room, I wanted to use red, white, and blue to match the red/white gingham tablecloth that is usually on the table. I made the tablecloth from an extra-wide backing fabric from Bonnie and Camille - easy peasy! In my stash was a perfect layer cake of Land of Liberty by Riley Blake. You'll find it on Etsy right here and at Fat Quarter Shop right here. I love this collection so much! Florals, ginghams, pinwheels, stars; so much goodness in bright and happy red and navy with both crisp and creamy whites! The border is a Riley Blake Basic gingham in navy and white, and the binding is solid red.
Longarm Quilting
This quilting design is Posies, quilted in white thread on my Handi Quilter Fusion with ProStitcher. I quilted two quilts at a time (one right after the other on the same piece of backing), and I showed you the other one a few days ago - you can see it right here.
This quilt is quilted with a layer of cotton batting with an extra layer of heat-resistant batting. This way I don't have to cover up the pretty table runner with hot pads under dishes that are warm, though I wouldn't trust this batting with a hot cast iron pan.

Gorgeous work! I love the fabrics. I've ordered my copy of the book and can't wait to get my hands on it! Have a good week.
I love this runner and all of the three quilts you made for the book hop! Thank you so much for the support!!
I already have this book and I will have to work on making my own style, also. I love table runners and I use them around the house. The way that you have made this is very lovely and it would be quite useful for me.
Your table runner is lovely! I like red, white and blue. The book looks very interesting with all the nice quilts.
I always enjoy reading your emails. Thank you.
