Another WIP from the closet found the light today!  The stack of Ooh La La fabrics is whittling down with enough for one more baby quilt.

This is a smaller baby quilt than I usually make.  The idea came from a custom order request for a smaller quilt that is easier to drag around.

Ooh La La Starry Night Baby Quilt

I love star quilts and happy colors, so I thought the two would mix well in a baby quilt. I love the old-fashioned look of a quilt after washing! Tiny polka dots on bubble gum pink are so very sweet! I'm working through my stash of Ooh La La and am making good progress.  What started out as a very large stack is very small.  Currently there are three Ooh La La quilts listed in my shop - two baby quilts and an oversized lap. One of the next fabric collections in my stash that I plan to tackle is Crazy Love by Jennifer Paganelli.  It has a bright Caribbean style, and I can't wait to create some baby quilts and bed quilts with it!  However, Crazy Love won't come out of my closet until the new year because I have a grouping of fabrics that are calling out to be made into holiday table runners, baby quilts, and maybe even a lap quilt.  The fabric is gray, red, aqua, and white and so fresh and modern and holiday-ish.  Hopefully you'll see some of that during Thanksgiving week. Scrumptious Happy Scrappy Baby Quilt in Ooh La La!

Oh yummy!  Super happy and bright baby quilt in Ooh La La fabrics! Using each fabric only once, the quilt wasn't quite big enough, so I used a white border and a second border in a coordinating Pillow & Maxfield print to add size.  {Pillow & Maxfield is the designer of the Ooh La La fabric line.}

I had just enough sunny stripe for the binding - it's now gone!  :{

Quilting is a very dense allover meandering stitch in white thread. The backing is also an Ooh La La coordinate - Fleur de Lis in Blue. Quilt Stats:

• Pattern:  Patchwork with borders
• Size:  38" x 44"
• Fabric:  Ooh La La by Pillow & Maxfield for Michael Miller Fabrics, along with a P&M coordinate for the second border.
• Batting:  100% cotton, thin

• Quilting:  Dense allover meandering stitch in white thread, done on Mrs.Bernina, my old 830 which was my grandmother's.
• Binding:  Le stripe in Citrus from Ooh La La.

Custom Happy Scrappy Quilt in Ooh La La - Twin Size - Finished!

I've finished the custom twin-sized Happy Scrappy quilt in Ooh La La! She is so very bright and fun! Ooh La La is nearly gone from my stash, and there is only enough left for a baby quilt or pillows.  But don't worry, there is no shortage of delightful fabrics in my stash for more quilts!
My customer gave me freedom with the pillow sham.  Her exact words were, "Surprise me! :) ".  My reply to her was, "Oh, you do know how to make a quilter happy by letting her make it how she envisions it!!"   I had fun making it work with the larger pieces of Ooh La La that I had on hand.  I used one of my favorite go-to quilt books, Shams With Style, as a guide for making the pillow sham.  I like having all of the figuring done for me so I can just cut and sew without a whole lot of thinking!  There are tons of options in the book, including bound pillows, flanged pillows, envelope backed pillows, tied edge pillows in all sizes from toss to king. 

The front is quilted on the diagonal on top of a layer of fusible fleece.  I have never used fusible fleece before, and I now ♥ it!  It is so nice to use instead of quilting with a layer of batting and muslin for backing.  I can see why purse patterns call for fusible fleece.   The edge of the sham is bound like a quilt with extra-wide binding as a nice accent.  The binding started out 3-1/2" wide!  I used the same striped fabric for the sham binding as is on the quilt.

• Size:  67" x 91", generous twin
• Fabric:  Ooh La La by Pillow & Maxfield for Michael Miller Fabrics
• Batting:  100% cotton, thin
• Backing:  White Kona premium 200-count muslin
• Quilting:  Allover meandering in white polyester thread on Mrs.Singer, my antique 31-15 mounted on a long-arm quilting frame
• Binding:  Double fold in coordinating stripe from the Ooh La La collection, attached by machine with mitered corners
• Sham:  Standard sized using Shams With Style as a guide in fabrics from the Ooh La La collection and one fabric from a coordinating collection.  Quilted on the diagonal with a layer of fusible fleece.  Bound with extra-wide binding.

HAPPY SCRAPPY Ooh La La Twin Quilt
