Say hello to Brick Cottage Lane 2 in Island Batiks!  Brick Cottage Lane 2 is a quilt design I wrote in 2016, and here it is making another appearance, 9 years later, still as beautiful as ever!  This quilt pattern includes 5 sizes - Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  There are two assembly options - Traditional Piecing brick by brick and Strip Piecing which saves so much time.  Jelly rolls can be used for the Traditional Piecing method only.

Putting it all together, brick by brick

Brick Cottage Lane 2 got its name because each scrap in the design reminds me of bricks being stacked together.  What makes this pattern especially unique is that it includes two methods of assembly - strip piecing and traditional piecing.  Strip piecing can save you LOADS of time, but jelly roll strips cannot be used to strip piece.  Sewing each brick together individually allows the use of jelly roll strips as well as more control over where each print is placed, but takes a lot more time.

Includes 5 Sizes

Brick Cottage Lane 2 includes 5 sizes is all - Baby, Lap, Twin, Queen, and King.  This quilt was made in a generous Queen size.  Because the queen size is square, it can be placed in either direction, but the other sizes require the bricks to be placed vertically.

Bright Cheery Batik Fabrics

These vibrant batik fabrics are from Island Batiks in a range of reds, purples, teals, and pinks.  The bold colors pair very well with Brick Cottage Lane 2, especially with the nice crisp white background.  These fabrics were provided to me during my time as an Island Batik Ambassador, and are leftover from other projects.

The wide backing is Shades in Snow by Riley Blake Designs, available in our shop.  This fabric is snow white, not the usual creamy fabric like Kona Cotton Snow.

This quilt top was made by Joanne Hubbard about five years ago and was stashed away in the quilt top bin under the bed.  I pulled it out a month or so ago and it got its spa day on the longarm.

Longarm Machine Quilting

The quilting design used for this lively quilt is Tidepool by Stephanie Haacke available at here at Wasatch Quilting.  Thread is Superior Omni in white.  This was quilted on my HandiQuilter Amara with ProStitcher.
