A Super Sparkly RAINBOW Sparkler Quilt!

Upon seeing his sister's rainbow quilt, my middle son also wanted rainbow quilts in his bedroom.  Fast forward a year, and he got his wish.  He had outgrown the Jungle Quilts I made him eight or so years ago, in my mind anyway, although he was not asking for new quilts.  It was me who wanted to change his room!

He has bunkbeds in his room, and I made the full-size quilt in January and this twin-sized quilt in June of this year.  This post is way overdue!  And I've never posted about the full-size quilt because I thought I'd make a pattern out of it.  I'll get that posted soon because a pattern is not in the plan.

I was careful to place all the colors along this side so they would show when on the bed.  This quilt goes on the top bunk.  He can see the whole quilt when it's on the bed, no problem - there's no way I can due to my height deficiency!!

He likes pink and purple and wanted them included!

A black background seemed a better choice for a boy!  The original pattern was made with white rather than black, so this is a completely different look.
I added a 2.5" strip to all sides to make it a better fit for a twin-sized bed.  The original pattern is a lap at 60" x 84".

The backing is extra-wide Spot-On in Red by Robert Kaufman.  I was disappointed that this fabric is not very soft.  I really regret not using a black and red chevron in flannel.  I used Spot-On in gray on my queen-sized Star Light Star Bright quilt, and the gray was much softer than the red.
