My next custom order is a queen size Postcard from Sweden quilt! How fun is that! This is 444 HSTs, though there will be some leftover for a different project. This is the first time I've used my AccuQuilt Go!, and it was such a pleasure to use her to cut HSTs from this delicious pile of fabrics! I was pleasantly surprised at how little waste there was {see picture below}. My niece had fun turning the crank on the AccuQuilt for me.
My plan is to follow the pattern exactly unless I run out of a color in which case I'll substitute a similar color from the pile. I've laid them out on my cutting table in numerical order, corresponding with the numbers given in the pattern. You do know what this means, don't you??? It means the quilt top is top priority to finish because it's hogging my cutting table, and I can't cut any fabric until it's off! I could have moved the mat before laying them out but didn't think of it until just now!
This is the waste from 6 HSTs which are all cut at once! It's is more than cutting them by hand, but the tradeoff is the HSTs don't need trimmed after they're sewn!
Postcard from Sweden is a free pattern on Craftsy and is also available as a kit. I did not buy the kit since I'm enlarging it so much; I bought yardage from Stash Fabrics.
This quilt is a custom order through my Etsy shop.

I assume you cut one hst at a time with the machine. Do you think it saved time in that step? There's certainly an advantage in not having to trim all of those blocks.
All those glorious Kona colours...so bright and cheery. Can't wait to see the blocks progress. I guess you do need to lay them all out because they are matched with different colours.
Looking good! I have several rows of triangles sewn together as squares already. I'm just trying to stay ahead of you because I have to trim my HSTs! I see a long night in front of the tv ironing HSTs in my future.
