Today I'm sharing this log cabin heart Quilty Cabins quilt! This is the quilt I made to test the pattern, and I can't believe I haven't shown it to you yet! Quilty Cabins is a fun pattern to make. :)
This quilt is made with a fat quarter bundle of Sweet Picnic, a lovely blend of purples, teal, orangey-reds and gold with a creamy white background. The prints are a variety of florals, ginghams, cherries, and butterflies.
Quilty Cabins comes in a ton of quilt sizes and is fun to sew up. Even with the number of pieces in each block, it doesn't take very long to make with chain piecing to speed up the process.

Tons of Quilt Sizes Included
Quilty Cabins includes all of the quilt sizes, so you don't have to do any math, and so you are much more likely to use the pattern more than once. The quilt pattern includes instructions for the following quilt sizes:
- Baby quilt size
- Throw quilt size
- Twin bed size
- Square Queen bed size
- Rectangular Queen bed size
- King bed size
Log Cabin Quilt Blocks with Hearts
Quilty Cabins is made with sweet hearts in the middle of log cabin quilt blocks. With a lot of figuring and re-figuring, the hearts landed smack in the middle of the block. It's a joy to piece the blocks and see the hearts appear all of a sudden, seemingly out of nowhere!
If you love heart quilts and log cabin quilts, this is the perfect quilt pattern for you! I've done all of the math for you, so you can grab your fat quarters, switch on some music and have a cutting session, and then sit down and sew.
Two Layout Options - Traditional and Offset
With two layout options, you have double the options to create a stunning quilt. The Traditional layout places the blocks as one would expect in a log cabin design with the blocks lining up with the logs from four blocks meeting at their corners. The Offset layout places the hearts half dropped and the logs create a cascading wave down the quilt top. Both layouts are beautiful!

Those Sweet Fabrics
This quilt is made with a fat quarter bundle of Sweet Picnic fabrics by Riley Blake Designs with a background of creamy white. It's a lovely collection with a number of colorways which is perfect for Quilty Cabins.
As long as your fat quarters stand out from the background, they will work great in Quilty Cabins. This is a good pattern to use your less-than-favorite fabrics, too, as they will be well hidden in the blocks.
Longarm Quilting
The longarm digital quilting design used on this quilt is Double Bubble, one of my new favorites. It stitches out so nicely, and I love to put round stitching on quilts to break up all of the straight edges of the fabrics. Thread color is Natural White, quilted on my HandiQuilter Fusion with Pro-Stitcher.
Wide Backing Fabric
This quilt is backed with Dry Brush in Cream wide backing, available in The Wide Back Shop. It's a tone-on-tone fabric, similar to Grunge, that blends so well.
