Pattern Cover Quilt Fabric Bliss!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

This fabric recently made its way into my sewing room, much to my delight!  Did ya notice it's a rainbow!  Mmm Hmm.  I love the vintage 30s flair of the prints, and the super softness of the fabric.  It will soon be used in a quilt for a new pattern cover, and I'm super excited to get it sewn up.

This fabric is Country Fair from Connecting Threads, and most of the prints come in four colors, though not all {the green didn't}.  The print on the right makes me so happy!  If I have any large pieces left, I will make a wholecloth table runner with it for my living room table so I can see it everyday.  My daughter said I should make a dress out of it {!}, but then told me she wouldn't be seen with me when I wear it.  LOL!

Country Fair is now on Clearance, and you will save 20% off all fabric on clearance right now at Connecting Threads!  Just enter the code TAKE20 at checkout, and the extra discount will appear.

Stash Report {The FREE Version!}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

This gorgeous fat quarter bundle of dark shot cottons by Studio E. is now resting on the shelf in front of my cutting table!  Yep, I was the oh-so-lucky winner of this bundle over at Trends and Traditions, Heather Mulder Peterson's blog!  Pretty sweet, huh?!  Y'all know I love rainbows!

What I think is a hoot is that I rarely ever, mostly never enter giveaways, and I won two in the last two weeks!  This past year I didn't even enter the huge number of giveaways during the Sew Mama Sew giveaway weeks!  {The other win was a bundle of goodies from The Missouri Star Quilt Co which was a prize in the Spangled Stars Quilt Along.}

Sunday Stash Report {Rainbow Edition!}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Purchased recently from Fabric.com were two Kona Bright Ten-Squares.  The sale was too great to pass up!  What I like about this particular set is there are no grays, browns, or white included.  Those fabrics I can easily add myself, and I'd prefer every fabric to be completely delicious!  I ♥ all things rainbow and will have no problem finding something to make with this!

Sunday Stash {Paris in Pink Edition!}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today is the last day to enter my PB&J Layer Cake Giveaway!

Also purchased on that great sale at Fresh Squeezed Fabrics on Etsy were several yards of Pepe in Paris by Riley Blake Eiffel Towers and a coordinating stripe, also from the same line.  This will be used as backing and binding for the fabric left from the Paris in Pink custom bed runner I recently made.  My customer plans on ordering coordinating pillow covers.  I'll still have plenty of the Paris fabrics to make a lap quilt.

I love tissu.  That's French for "I love fabric!"  It's pronounced EEE LUV TEESHU according to Google translate.  :)

Cutting It Up

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

For a few days this week I was without a sewing machine because I dropped the bobbin case and thought it was broken.  After I'd ordered one, I showed the part I thought was broken to my husband, and he suggested I unscrew the tension screw and see if there was anything hiding under there.  Wouldn't you know, there was a small fuzzy!  Mrs.Bernina is stitching again, even better than she has for awhile, so I'm thinking that fuzzy has been a long-term resident.  Fortunately the bobbin case was inexpensive, and now I have a spare!  Note to self:  ask Mr.Fixit first!

Instead of sewing, I've been cutting!

I have scoured my stash for fabrics I love for the Farm Girl Vintage Sew Along!  See the rainbow of goodness I found?!  My favorite fabrics of all are the bright blue on the top, which is a Flower Sugar print, and a red and white diagonal check from Holly Holderman.  Just love 'em.  There are lots of 30s reproduction fabrics that I've had for over 10 years.  I picked out only fabrics I like since I am keeping what I make during the Sew Along.  This will not be a hiding-ugly-fabric quilt!

For the Sew Along, we're using Lori Holt's Farm Girl Vintage book.  I love it!  My plan is to make a 6" block every week and extras of the blocks I really like. The sampler quilt will be for the wall in my living room, and the other blocks will be for wall hangings, table runners, window valances, etc. for my kitchen, dining room, entryway, and living room which are pretty much all one room.  I will be using very little pink because the Mr. says "no pink"!

Next up I cut pieces for the Aiming for Accuracy II Quilt Along.  I'm making two quilts for this QAL; one with white and one with a black background since I couldn't decide which I liked better.  This quilt is nearly entirely from my Kona scrap stash.

Also cut this week were more blocks for the GRAVITY Quilt Along.  I like to cut ahead and then assemble them later.  It makes the block seem like less work to make.  I am really, really enjoying using the Jaybird templates.

All Craftsy classes are up to $20 off through May 11th!  I've learned quite a few helpful tips from Craftsy classes that have improved the accuracy of my piecing.  It's time to get that class that's been on your Wish List!

Happy Cutting!

Sunday Stash Report {Farm Girl Sew Along Edition!}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

The stripe is Pepe in Paris for Riley Blake.  The other three cherry prints are from Lazy Days by Lori Whitlock for Riley Blake.  These were purchased at an amazing sale at Fresh Squeezed Fabrics on Etsy.  I'll be using them in the Farm Girl Sew Along over at Bee in My Bonnet.

If you read this blog regularly, you know that I am not a scrap quilter.  Y'all should be proud of me!  I have begun cutting my scraps to use in the Farm Girl Sew Along.  I'm hoping that these are my only purchase.  I resisted buying the delightful Swiss Dots recommended by Lori in this post.  I plan to use plain ol' white because I've got tons of it.

Sunday Stash Report {Foxes, Hedgehogs and More!}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

If I had shown you everything I bought over spring break, you would have thought I went over the top, so I've been feeding it to you a little at a time!  This week's installment includes foxes and hedgehogs with a coordinating stripe!  Next down the pile is Simply Style yardage for the HST quilt which is my April goal for 2015 Lovely Year of Finishes.  Below that are two red prints that just spoke to my heart.  Then bicycles with kites, and finally a delightful owl and bird print.  Below are close-ups of the last two since they are just plain fun!

Sunday Stash Report {Honey Honey!}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Added to my stash over our relaxing spring vacation was this fun bundle of Honey Honey by Kate Spain.  This will become an unknown quilt top!  I have yardage of the large Tea Rose coordinate in Coral Pink for backing in my stash already, so that completely justifies buying coordinates for the quilt top!  It's usually the other way around, and I have to buy backing to complete a quilt.  I could not keep this fabric out of my cart at $4 a yard, plus, it was looking for a good home where it would be well loved!

Sunday Stash Report {Paris in Pink!}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Added to my stash is this fun bundle of French fabrics in pinks, grays, and white, all collected during some fun time with my sister on our recent spring vacation. Several of the fabrics include the Eiffel Tower and other Paris designs.  These fabrics are for a custom quilted bed runner through my Etsy shop.  I'll show a close-up of the fabrics when I share the quilt top this week.

Sunday Stash Report {Architextures Bundle!}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Being on a fairly strict fabric-buying diet, it's always a real treat when I have the excuse to buy some fabric love!  My oldest son really needs a new quilt for his bed; the castle quilt I made for him in 2005 is plain ol' worn out with the fabric threadbare and batting showing through in places.

He is not picky when it comes to his quilt; he wants blues, gray, and yellow and likes every quilt pattern I have shown him!  That leaves me a lot of leeway, so I decided on flying geese for two reasons - I have been wanting to make a quilt with them for some time, and because they represent direction - changing direction, choosing direction - and that's exactly where he is in life at age 19.  I have a layout in mind and plan to design it in EQ7.  There will be a rainbow-y quilt on every bed in the house!

Meet Architextures Crosshatch - My Subtle Rainbow Version!  Brown, oranges, yellow, greens, blues, and black.  The blue on the bottom of the stack is the backing, and the large gray piece is for the quilt top background and binding, with the rainbow pieces for the flying geese.  The gray piece is an extra-wide piece which was cheaper to buy than regular yardage since I need so many yards.

Now, do you really want to see what the fabric looked like when I received it?  Okay, here goes.  This was the pile of fabric exactly as it came out of the bag.  Seriously.  I won't name the company, but there it is on the box!  I only buy from this company when it saves enough money to justify doing so; every other quilt shop packages orders better than this.  The coupon made me order from this shop; really, it was the coupon's fault.

Craftsy now has Crosshatch Extra-Wide Backing in black and white.  It's perfect for my GRAVITY quilt!  I like this option much better than a solid gray or black, plus, I won't have to piece yardage together!  I'm all for that!

As a lucky winner in she can quilt's Scraptastic Tuesday link-up in October, I asked for something similar to the Mimosa line ... and got Mimosa!  Fluffy Sheep Quilting was the sponsor.  Sweet!  It's about 1/2 yard.  I'm thinking pillow covers!

Dottie Dot Quilt in Progress

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Bright Dot Fabric
I have been wanting to work with these fabrics for months, but I couldn't figure out what to do with them.  I finally found the perfect pattern!  I was inspired by this quilt at Exuberant Color which led me to this free pattern!  This fabric is totally different than what's shown in the quilt and the pattern, but it just clicked in my mind when I saw the pattern layout.  Tonight I pressed all the fabrics so they're ready to be cut into squares when I get the chance.

Shh, I have a secret to tell you!  These fabrics are from the Craftsy 2013 Block of the Month Kit I purchased last year!  Can you believe I am not using the kit for the project?  {GASP!}

I am also going to be working with this stack of Amy Butler Lark prints as soon as the yardage I ordered arrives.  It's 46% off at Craftsy right now!  I'll use the pattern Bohemian Charm by Kelly at My Quilt Infatuation again because it spotlights large prints without cutting them down too small.  This quilt is likely a graduation present for my niece, if it seems to suit her after it is finished.  I'd like to give her Dottie Dot, but I'm told she doesn't like pink!  I ♥ pink!
