Folkwood Baby Quilt | May and June Stash Report

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Included in the June Stash Builder Box that I won as part of the Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict were three coordinating yards of Folkwood by Dear Stella.

As soon as I saw the fabrics, I knew they were destined to be a Disappearing Nine Patch quilt, because the prints were the perfect variation in color and design size, and because I had zero fabrics in the stash to coordinate with them.  I'd been wanting to make a D9 quilt, so it was a win-win for the fabric and for me - it got used, and I got to make a D9!

I figured out how to place the fabrics so the bunnies all ended up facing the same direction after they were turned (on the second and remaining blocks anyway)!  {{Pats self on back!!}}

Quilting is a starburst flower design, done on Gratitude.  Oh wait, I did have this backing fabric that coordinated, and the leftover scraps were put to good use in the backing.

Such yumilicious binding!  And can you believe that Blogger thinks that's a word?!?  Ha Ha!

This is the seventh use of my new Handmade labels from Ikaprint!

Quilt Stats:
Pattern:  Disappearing 9 Patch, squares are 6.5" unfinished.

I was gone at the end of May and thought I'd sneak by without a Stash confession, but I decided to post May and June together here.  So much for downsizing 200 yards this year!  {{blushes}}

April 2017 Blog and Stash Review

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

April has been a productive month in my quilting studio, having finished 7 quilts, three of which I haven't blogged about yet.  One king, one twin, two laps, and three baby quilts.

First up is a Jelly Roll Waves lap quilt in blues and aquas.

Then a Monopoly lap quilt for the Hands2Help quilt drive.

A king size Brick Cottage Lane {2} in Simply Color and Kona gray.

And a twin size Oh My Darling in Fresh Cut by Moda.

Also finished are three baby quilts that I used to practice digital edge-to-edge wavy lines which I will use as the quilting on the custom king size Postcard From Sweden quilt which simply must get quilted this week.  I'll post pictures of those quilts soon.

April 2017

Finished Quilts:  7

Custom Quilting:  0

Fabric In:  51.63 yards

Fabric Out:  (59.2 yards)

Net for 2017:  (45.43 yards)

I set what I thought was a ridiculous goal of reducing my stash by 200 yards in 2017, but I see that I am just about running at the pace needed to complete this by December 31st!  Yeah for using the stash!

I'll bet you're wondering what this is?  It's my next pattern which should be ready in a few weeks. I may be making mine in Handmade by Bonnie and Camille and Moda Crossweave in Black.  Maybe.  I may end up using my other B&C fabrics with white.  It oughta be fun to make, right?

APRIL FOOLS!  That is a picture of my next pattern with a bunch of distortion applied.  Did I getcha?

February Use Your Stash + a Scrap GIVEAWAY!!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Stash use during February was expectedly low being that I was in Arizona visiting my parents for the first two weeks of the month.  I was glad to miss a big snow storm here at home.

This month I bought a fair amount of yardage to redecorate the living room with. We're ready for a change from the Brick Cottage Lane quilt and curtains.   I picked out some super cute barns-y decorations at Hobby Lobby while on my trip and had them delivered while I was away.  This wall is SO big that it requires big decor in order to not be swallowed up.  Stay tuned for that!  I can't wait for a chance to get some things made for myself!  Other fabric in was for custom orders.

February Yardage in 37.35    Yardage out (11.4)   Net Yardage 25.95

I bet you're wondering what that mess is?  That's a pile of scraps I've been collecting for a Giveaway!  It's way more than it looks and fills a Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box.  I have added quite a bit to it since I took this picture last week, and it will arrive to you stuffed full.  I request that the winner pay postage of $14 via Paypal.  US entries only, please.  Enter to win in the Rafflecopter below.  Giveaway ends on Tuesday the 7th.

Why I Love Keeping a Stash Report {January 2017}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

I've long resisted keeping track of yardage in and out, but I'm finding I love doing it!  The accountability really keeps me focused on using instead of buying and hoarding.  It's exciting to add to the Yardage out column!  I have a goal for how many yards of fabric I use and don't replace this year, but it's so big and so ridiculous that I won't tell you what it is.

Yardage in 33.4    Yardage out (48.6)   Net Yardage (15.2)

Some of the Yardage out was from selling stash in my Pattern Shop.

As far as quilt progress, this month I released a new pattern, Jelly Roll Waves, and finished these 5 quilts.  The first three are lap quilts in my new Jelly Roll Waves pattern, the fourth quilt is a large lap Rainbow Wave quilt {for sale in my Quilt Shop}, and a custom order Baby Rainbow Star quilt.

In February and March I have two custom orders to work on; a twin size Kite Flight and a king size Postcard From Sweden, both orders through my Quilt Shop.

But first I will enjoy my vacation here in Arizona with my parents!  The warmth and sunshine are wonderful!
