So lovely. I saw one on a porch swing one time and every time I see this pattern again, I think of curling up on a couch and using it.

tell me more about your vintage Singer long arm. what was it designed to do originally? how did it come to live with you? how is it powered?

@ Brenda. You can read more about my experience with Mrs. Singer by clicking on the Label "Mrs.Singer" in the sidebar.

My 1896 Singer 31-15 is an industrial machine mounted on a quilting frame - voila, she became a quilting machine! We bought her off Craigslist in 2010, the year that my husband was unemployed, with the thought that I could earn some extra money with her. She had already been retrofitted to be a long-arm quilting machine before we purchased her and has many miles on her as a quilting machine.

She is electric and has a gizmo attached to the side that regulates how fast she stitches. It is not a stitch regulator like today's machines which speed up and slow down depending on how fast you move them; but it does regulate speed in the sense that when I press the stitch handle, she stitches at a consistent rate no matter how fast I move her.

I Love Her! She has opened wide the world of quilting to me because I cannot afford to have someone else quilt the large quilts I make.

Wow, I love this! The colors are so brilliant, and made more vibrant by the simple white sashing. Good job! :)
