Today is the second step in the SPLASH of Color Quilt Along at Busy Hands Quilts!  We're showing off our cut fabrics!

Schedule {subject to change with life's happenings!}

The SPLASH of Color Quilt Along kickoff is Tuesday, October 3rd with two weeks between each step.  On each date listed below, a linkup will be posted here on the blog, and you'll have until the 5:00 pm pacific time the day before the next link-up to add your link.

September 20 - QAL Introduction
October 3 - Fabric and pattern selection
October 17 - Cutting fabric
October 31 - Piecing blocks
November 14 - Piecing blocks progress check-in
November 28 - Finished quilt tops (flimsies, quilting not required)
December 12 - Quilt top linkup closes and grand prize for finished quilt tops awarded.
January 2 - Finished Quilt Parade (after Christmas in case your quilt is a gift).
January 15 - Last day to link up a finished quilt.

For this step of the quilt along, we're cutting our fabrics.

Here are my cut fabrics, over 300 triangles in black and white along and an ombre rainbow.  I cut them with my Super Sidekick template.  I haven't cut triangles since I made a GRAVITY quilt in 2015, and I really enjoyed cutting them.  The ombre fabrics weren't wide enough to cut the triangles the size indicated in the Seeing Spots pattern, so the triangles are cut smaller and will result in a smaller quilt.

Oh but wait, I've decided to make two black and white with a Splash quilts since I had some black and white fat quarters left after cutting the first quilt!  This one will be black and white with a splash of TEAL.  Pretend that's teal in the picture!  I cut the green grunge, but when we compared the EQ7 mockups of green and teal, my daughter and I decided the teal grunge is better.

The pattern for these fabrics is my very own Granny's Square Patch pattern!  This pattern includes 6 sizes from baby to king and uses strip piecing.  I'm making the small lap size.

If you need black and white fabrics, Fat Quarter Shop has a bounty of black and white FQ bundles, black and white yardage, batting and backing.

One random entrant in the linkup below will receive a PDF quilt pattern from Busy Hands Patterns.

Spread the word, share on your blogs and social media!

I hope you'll join us in the SPLASH of Color Quilt Along!  Please share about the quilt along on your blog and social media with #splashofcolorQAL and tag me @busyhandsquilts.

Two quilts, eh? It would be easy to pick 5 patterns and make them with a black and white scheme! But we have to draw the line somewhere don't we?

Two quilts - that's confidence! But smart too - now those leftover black and whites won't sit there forever. :) Teal will be lovely. :)

I'm wondering if I'm missing something because I haven't seen anything since the cuttingfabric page. Do I need to do something to see the dates since then?
