Hampton Court Quilt Pattern - the Black Background One!

Hampton Court is striking with a black background and bright colors!  This quilt top was made by Kare and quilted and bound by me.

The Design

Hampton Court is based on King Henry VIII's castle, Hampton Court, from the 1500s.  The bricks are varying sizes, and this design can be seen in the brickwork of the exterior of the castle.

Entirely Strip Pieced!

You won't be sewing together individual bricks - that would take far too long!  Let's make quilts quicker so we can make more!  This pattern is strip pieced and goes together much quicker than one might expect.  The pattern does include instructions for traditional piecing, brick by brick, if you should choose to go that route, however.  Definitely use the strip piecing for the bed-sized quilts.  Even if the same fabric ends up next to itself, it's really okay!  You'll see that happened in this quilt, and it still looks amazing.

So Many Quilt Sizes!

Hampton Court includes four quilt sizes - Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  The baby size isn't included because the design didn't work out to an actual Baby quilt size.  You'll find that most of my patterns include many quilt sizes - they are a true value!

Ah, That Fabric!

This quilt is Imperial Elegance by Connecting Threads in the Throw size.  It was kitted in this collection, but the quilt kit is no longer available.  The 80 kits they stocked sold out in five days.  :)  The background is solid black.  The backing is Spritz in Black from Connecting Threads.

Quilting Design

The digital longarm quilting design is African Samba, quilted in black thread on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher.
