Glimmer Baby Quilt in Garden Delights!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing Glimmer, a brand-new quilt pattern in 8 sizes!  Glimmer is the first of five quilt patterns headed your way this Summer and Fall.  They just keep a'coming!

Glimmer is a sparkling design where the colors weave together in a glimmering cascade across the quilt top.  This is achieved by using a lighter and darker hue in each of several colorways.

The Glimmer quilt pattern includes all the sizes and more!  You will love that there are eight sizes in the pattern, perfect for exactly the size of quilt you need.

The Glimmer quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

The Glimmer Quilt Pattern

Glimmer is an easy quilt design that includes all of the sizes - there are 8 in all!  Any size you want is covered in this pattern, and I've done all of the math for you.  I love doing the math!!  :)  The quilt block size is perfect to make all of the quilt sizes!

  • Baby  45 x 45
  • Lap  45 x 63
  • Throw  54 x 72
  • Large Throw  60 x 80
  • Twin  70 x 90
  • Full  80 x 80
  • Queen  99 x 110
  • King  110 x 110

The pattern calls for yardage in 5 pairs of fabrics for the Baby size (10 fabrics), and yardage in 7 pairs of fabrics for all other sizes (14 fabrics).  This is pretty easy to achieve with today's fabric collections that have many colorways in them, or even your stash.

Do you love nesting seams?  Glimmer includes pressing instructions so almost every seam in the quilt top nests.  This makes quilt top assembly so . much . easier!

Those Sweet Fabrics!

This Baby sized Glimmer quilt is made with Garden Delights, a collection of small itty bitty florals by Gray Sky Studio for In the Beginning Fabrics.  There are five colorways, each with a light and darker hue - pinks, blues, green, yellows, and red.  In these fabrics, the flowers in the darker hued fabric are a little larger than the flowers in the lighter-hued fabric.  They blend so well together!  You'll find Garden Delights fabrics right here.

The backing is a sweet blue floral from my stash, and the binding is a purple floral from the Garden Delights collection, which does not appear in the quilt top because only five colorways are used, so purple was excluded.  The background fabric is solid white.

Fun fact - this quilt was actually finished in March of this year, but moving across the country caused a major delay in the pattern release.  We are officially Ohioans!

The Glimmer quilt pattern is an easy quilt pattern designed for experienced beginners who have a few quilts under their needle already.  You'll find the pressing instructions that result in nesting seams really help the quilt go together so easily.

Longarm Quilting

The quilting design on this quilt is Echoed Hearts in white thread, done on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher.  This sweet design is perfect for this super sweet baby quilt.

Bonus Quilt Blocks

In some of the sizes in Glimmer, a few extra quilt blocks are made and not used in the quilt top.  Making equal number of blocks in each colorway allows you to decide on the order of the colorways  across the quilt top after the blocks are made, instead of having to commit to a set order of colors before cutting and sewing, when it can be especially difficult to visualize how the quilt will look.

It's all good!  The quilt pattern includes instructions on making pillow covers or small table toppers with the bonus blocks, so they won't go to waste!

Glimmer Throw Quilt in Botanicals!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing a Glimmer quilt in the Throw size - the newest quilt pattern in my pattern line!  This is the Throw size, and the pattern includes all of the sizes you would ever need - there are 8 in all!

This is an easy quilt pattern that involves a lot of mindless sewing, and sometimes that is just what we need when we sit down with our bestie sewing machines.

A little side note - we are now Ohioans, having completed our cross-country trek from Washington State in late June!

The Glimmer quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

The Glimmer Quilt Pattern

There are 8 quilt sizes included in the instructions.  Including this many sizes does make it challenging to fit all of the information in the charts and into the Cutting Instructions, but I ♥ to spoil you, and you are so worth the extra effort!

  • Baby  45 x 45
  • Lap  45 x 63
  • Throw  54 x 72
  • Large Throw  60 x 80
  • Twin  70 x 90
  • Full  80 x 80
  • Queen  99 x 110
  • King  110 x 110

The pattern calls for yardage in 5 pairs of fabrics for the Baby size (10 fabrics), and yardage in 7 pairs of fabrics for all other sizes (14 fabrics).  This is pretty easy to achieve with today's fabric collections that have many colorways in them, or even your stash.

Boundless Botanical Fabrics

These fabrics are Botanical by Boundless, an older fabric collection that is still available on Etsy right here.  It has many hues in all of the colorways of the rainbow, and it was hard to narrow down what to use, but I ended up going with purples, pinks, reds, oranges, aquas, and blues for this quilt.  The orange and blue blocks are placed next to each other because they play so nicely together, being on opposite sides of the colorwheel.

The backing is Tranquil Flannel Mosaic Allover in Navy which we stocked in The Wide Back Shop before we moved.

The binding is a turquoise print from the Boundless Botanical collection.

Do you love nesting seams?  I sure do!  Glimmer includes pressing instructions so almost every seam in the quilt top nests.  This makes quilt top assembly so . much . easier!  Pressing instructions are included in every Busy Hands Quilts pattern when nesting is possible, even if it's just a few seams in a block.  They are so helpful!

Photos of Glimmer were the first photoshoot I've done in our new home in Ohio, so it was a work in progress to get the location figured out and the room just right.  I'm loving the windows on two walls  in the bedroom and how much that opens up the time of day that pictures can be taken, rather than waiting for the light to be perfect for less than an hour through one window.

I turned around, and lo and behold, there was Glimmer in all of her glory in the mirror! ♥

Glimmer Throw Quilt in a Rainbow of Garden Pindots!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing a Glimmer quilt in the rainbow!  Glimmer is a brand-new pattern in the Busy Hands Quilts pattern line.  It's an easy pattern that goes together with some mindless sewing (grab a podcast and sew!), and the results are fantastic!

Glimmer is striking quilt pattern that is quick and easy to make.  You will be pleased at how easily the quilt design goes together with simple piecing and nesting seams.

What ever size of quilt you're looking to make, you'll find it in Glimmer.  There are 8 sizes in all!  Grab two hues in a number of colorways, and you're all set.

The Glimmer quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

A Rainbow of Garden Pindot

We have so many quilt patterns that work for this rainbow goodness, two hues in 7 colorways, that we stocked this fabric in our fabric shop back in Washington last year.  Or was that this year?  It has all run together with our cross-country move!  Oh yes, it had to be last year because we didn't stock any new fabrics after December we knew we were moving.

Most of the prints in Garden Pindot have scattered tiny white dots on a solid background, but a few of them have colored dots instead of white.  The dark orange in this quilt is one of those.

You'll find Garden Pindot by Michael Miller right here on Etsy.

The background and binding are a solid black fabric from Michael Miller.

All of the Quilt Sizes

There are 8 quilt sizes included in the Glimmer pattern instructions.  You'll use this pattern more than once in the gift and donation quilts you make.

Baby, Lap, Throw, Large Throw, Full, Twin, Queen, and King.

In my quilt patterns, I size bed quilts generously to account for shrinkage of the quilt as it is washed, to account for today's thicker mattresses, and to minimize fighting over the covers!

Longarm Quilting Design

This quilt is machine longarm quilted in a loop design in black thread on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher.  The design is nested.

The wide backing fabric is Wide Screen in Black by Robert Kaufman.

This quilt top is made by one of my professional sewists, Kare, and quilted and bound by me.

Cottage Love Quilt Pattern - a Wall Hanging in Painterly Petals by Robert Kaufman!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing a bright and happy Cottage Love wall hanging quilt!  This is a quick and easy quilt pattern that you can make in a few hours for the Baby size, aka, Wall Hanging size.

Follow the Baby instructions to make the Wall Hanging size.  A hanging rod pocket is attached to this quilt for easy hanging, since I am thinking this fabric is not typical for a Baby quilt and is better suited as a Wall Hanging.

This bright watercolor quilt is made with fabrics from my stash - Painterly Petals by Robert Kaufman.  This is the older collection, and the newer collection is available right here.

Cottage Love is in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

This is the quilt I made to test the pattern, and to make sure the pressing instructions were correct and that the magic that I claimed happened (every seam nesting) really did happen.  And it does!

You may look at this quilt pattern and wonder why there are even nesting seams.  Hmm, it's not assembled in the way you might think.  It's a super quick and easy way to make this quilt, and there indeed are seams to nest.  :)

Stash-Friendly Quilt Pattern

The Cottage Love quilt pattern includes instructions for using 5" charm squares, 10" layer cake squares, and fat quarters (for Lap size and up).  All of these options make this a super stash-friendly quilt pattern, since you likely have these cuts in your stash already.

  • 5" charm squares
  • 10" layer cake squares
  • fat quarters
  • scrap bins (of course)
These Painterly Petals fabrics were in my stash, cut from a FQ bundle I had hoarded for several years and finally cut into last year to make a Through My Window quilt.  You can see that quilt right here.  The fabrics are so bright and colorful that making quilts with them is simply joyful!

All the Quilt Sizes

Cottage Love includes a huge number of quilt sizes - Seven!  There are two Throw sizes so you can make exactly the size that fits your purpose.  I love doing all of the math for you!

  • Baby / Wall Hanging  40" x 40"
  • Lap  40" x 50"
  • Throw  50" x 70"
  • Large Throw 60" x 80"
  • Twin  70" x 90"
  • Queen  100" x 100"
  • King  110" x 110"

The Cottage Love quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Those Bright Watercolor Fabrics!

This quilt is made with an older collection of Painterly Petals by Robert Kaufman which I had in my stash.  They have updated the collection, including a number of the same prints and also adding new prints.  It's even more spectacular than this collection, I think!  You'll find the new collection right here.

The deep blue background fabric is Kona Nightfall, a vivid navy that's not as dark as Kona Navy or Nautical.  This fabric is also used on the quilt back and binding.

Longarm Machine Quilting

The longarm quilting design used on this quilt is Belly Bop, a rounded version of Diagonal Bias Plaid.  Quilting is done in navy thread on my HandiQuilter Fusion with Pro-Stitcher.

The Cottage Love quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.
