Harmony Queen Quilt in Berry Market - a New Quilt Pattern!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

I am very pleased to share another quilt design with you!  This is Harmony - a quilt pattern that is quick, easy, and fun to work with!  Harmony is perfect to make into a sentimental gift that will be cherished forever.

Get the Harmony quilt pattern in the Busy Hands Quilts shop here.

We have Harmony quilt kits in Berry Market available right here!  We have limited bolts of fabric, so don't wait!

Meet Harmony!

Harmony features a soothing rhythmic design with a large focus fabric and five fabrics that coordinate together in perfect harmony (pun intended!).  If you have a favorite fabric that you want to use in your quilt, Harmony is a great design to help make that happen!

Harmony includes all of the sizes - 8 in all - and uses the 4-at-a-time method to assemble the flying geese quilt blocks.  It's fairly simple piecing - just be sure to use a scant 1/4" when sewing the flying geese blocks; it really makes a difference in getting accurate blocks.

Harmony Quilt Kits in Berry Market!

We have curated quilt kits so you can make this exact quilt!  For this one, you can choose Throw, Twin, Square Queen, Rectangle Queen, or King size.  Almost all of our quilt kits are the Throw size, but this one is so special as a bed size that we're offering you your choice.  Quantities are limited, so grab yours today!

Grab a Harmony Quilt Kit today.  This link will also show you coordinating backing we have in stock.

Available in 8 Sizes

You know how I love to spoil you with all the different quilt sizes.  Harmony includes a total of 8 sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, Twin, Full, Square Queen, Rectangle Queen, and King.  This way, you can make your own dream quilt without the added stress of the calculations or wondering if you'll have enough fabric.

When designing a quilt pattern, the Queen and King bed quilts are calculated on the larger side to compensate for today's thicker mattresses and because the quilt will shrink quite a bit when washed, somewhere around 3-5" each direction.

Border Love!

Isn't that outer border just the sweetest?  I love the mix of flowers and greenery with the strawberries.  ♥  The color of the background of the border fabric is called Stargazer.  It's a lovely rich and deep teal, not quite navy and not quite evergreen.

Very few of my quilt patterns include any borders as more modern quilts tend to be without borders.  Some classic designs such as this flying geese design seem to call for a border or two.  They are a very time-saving way to make a quilt larger!

Only the bed sizes in the Harmony design have borders.  The Baby, Lap, and Throw sizes do not include any borders.  The Twin size has one border, and the two Queens and King sizes have two borders.  This is due to quilt block sizes and making the math work for actual quilt sizes.

Berry Market Fabric

This is one of four Harmony quilts I ended up making!  There are so many fabrics to choose from, and this collection said Pick Me!  This Queen sized quilt is made using the Berry Market fabric collection by Beverly McCullough for Riley Blake Designs.  I have used Berry Market in a previous quilt, and I just loved how the it turned out. I just knew I had to use Berry Market with this design, too!

This quilt is made with the main floral print in Stargazer, a smaller floral print in Stargazer, along with two seafoam green and two pink prints.  The background is Kona Cotton White.  The backing and binding are prints from the collection.  Batting is Hobbs Heirloom 100% cotton.

You will find Berry Market quilt fabric right here.

Formation Throw Quilt in Timber!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing more pictures of a Formation quilt in the Throw size, made with Timber by Moda Fabrics.  This modern fabric collection includes black, grays, rusty golds, and green, with outdoorsy prints in trees, tents, ginghams, stripes, and tone-on-tones.  It's a perfect fabric collection for Formation!

This quilt pattern is quick and easy with large blocks that are made four at a time.

The Formation quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Formation Quilt Pattern

Formation is a flying geese quilt pattern, using large geese, so it's quick and easy to make.  You'll want a flying geese trimmer, and the one I found that trims to the size required for the pattern is right here.

The Formation quilt pattern includes 5 sizes - Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  All of the math has been done for you for each size.

Formation is a stash-friendly quilt pattern, using fat quarters you likely have in your stash.  Pretty much any fabrics will look great in this pattern.  For the greatest effect, choose a background fabric that stands out from the fat quarters.  This quilt is made with Timber by Moda Fabrics.

  • Baby  45" x 45"  5 FQs
  • Throw  63" x 72"  8 FQs
  • Twin  72" x 90"  13 FQs
  • Queen  90" x 104"  18 FQs
  • King  108" x 108"  23 FQs

Formation is a modern quilt pattern, perfect for the minimalist who wants simple house decor.  It's also great for farmhouse decor.

Longarm Machine Quilting

This Formation quilt is quilted with Cultivar, a digital quilting design reminiscent of fire flames or waves of water, quilted on my HandiQuilter Fusion with Pro-Stitcher.

This quilt top was made by Kare, one of my professional sewists.

The Formation quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Formation Baby Quilt in Blue Solids!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing a Formation quilt in the Baby size.  This quilt is made with Kona Cottons in Blues from my stash, using the triangle backing fabric as a guide.  Formation is a quick and easy quilt pattern that includes 5 sizes and is fat quarter friendly.

The Formation quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

The Formation Quilt Pattern

You know I love to spoil you with all of the quilt sizes, and Formation is no exception!  Included are instructions for five sizes.  I love doing all of the math to figure out the sizes.

  • Baby
  • Throw
  • Twin
  • Queen
  • King
Formation is a fat quarter-friendly quilt pattern, so using your fabric stash is easy.  You can also cut the number of squares listed in the pattern, which is what I did to make this quilt from my solids scraps.

Formation is a flying geese quilt pattern, and they are made oversized and then trimmed down.  The FG trimmer I recommend for this pattern is the Wing Clipper, available here and here.  Not all flying geese trimming rulers include the size of flying geese made in this pattern.

The Fabrics

This simple quilt is made with Kona Cotton Solids in Blues from my solids stash.

The triangle backing fabric is also from my stash, and was the guide I used to choose which blue fabrics to use.  I have held on to this fabric for just the right Baby quilt backing, and it's perfect for Formation.

In the Formation quilt pattern, the binding may be cut from the fat quarters, or a separate cut of yardage is called out as an option.  The binding on this quilt is scraps from all of the blues.

The Formation quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Longarm Quilting

This Baby quilt is quilted with a simple wave digital design on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher in gray thread.

The Formation quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Formation Throw Quilt in Quartz Metallic!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Formation is a minimalist quilt pattern that is perfect for quilts for guys.  The more masculine colors of tan, gray, and brown are perfect for this quilt pattern.

Connecting Threads has kitted Formation in their Quartz Metallic Tonals fabric collection!  The quilt kit is available right here.

The Quilt Kit

The Formation quilt kit includes all fabrics for the quilt top and binding to make a Throw size quilt in the fabrics shown.  The prints have metallic gold in them for a special touch, but it isn't overwhelming at all.  Grays, tans, browns, on a background of creamy oyster fabric.

Fabric Selection

Formation is a great quilt pattern to use your favorite prints that are just too hard to cut into small pieces or strips.  They can be featured in the large flying geese blocks and sparkle on the background.

Fat quarters are perfect for this quilt pattern, and when the background fabric contrasts well, the quilt turns out so beautiful.  :)

Longarm Quilting

This Formation quilt was made by my sewist, Kare, and quilted and bound by me.

The longarm quilting design is Zing, a fun design that echoes the flying geese blocks, quilted in cream-colored thread on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher.

The Formation Quilt Pattern

The Formation pattern includes five sizes - Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  The Baby size has only one group of geese across the quilt, and all other sizes have two.

Flying Geese blocks are easier to make with a FG trimming tool, and I recommend the Wing Clipper, available here and here.  This brand of trimmer has many sizes and includes the size made in this quilt pattern.

Formation is a fat quarter friendly quilt pattern, so it's so easy to use your stash.
