Mountain Peaks Quilt Kits in Watercolor | Purples and Blues Available!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

This week I have curated Mountain Peaks quilt kits for you, available in two different colorways - purples and blues!  Both quilt kits are made in the Throw size from the Mixed Watercolor Texture from the Color Stories by Stephanie Ryan Collection by P & B Textiles.  These fabrics have so much texture and depth, which helps allow your quilts to stand out!

Mountain Peaks is a multi-sized log cabin quilt pattern with unique setting triangles to finish the design clear out to the edge.  The quilt pattern includes 4 sizes - Baby, Throw, Queen, and King.

The quilt kit includes all fabrics for the quilt top and binding.  Batting, backing, and thread are not included.  These quilts finish at 58" x 78".

Mountain Peaks is a stunning log cabin design with sashing strips that create an ombre colorwash that just draws you in with its beauty.  4-1/2 yards in 5 prints are from the Mixed Watercolor Texture and 2-1/8 yards are from Kona Cotton White.

The Mountain Peaks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Mountain Peaks Baby Quilt in Fire!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing a Mountain Peaks Baby quilt in the Fire version!  A fellow quilter challenged me to think about out-of-the-box color schemes when she sent me her Fire version of Waterfall II, and I've been looking for quilt patterns to make in the Fire version every since then.  Click here to read about her quilt.

The Mountain Peaks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

This was a fun, quick quilt to make!  After cutting out all of the fabrics, I laid out the block with each piece in its place, which was really inspiring to see how the block would turn out.  The piecing is very simple and doesn't require a lot of thinking power, so it's a great design to turn on some music, a podcast or video and get some relaxing time in at your sewing machine.  :)

P.S. Remember to always use hearing protection when you sew!  My machine sews at 85 decibels which is loud enough to cause hearing damage over time.  You can download a decibel meter app on your phone and test your machine to see how loud it is.  I use noise-canceling headphones to protect my hearing.

Fabric Selection

This quilt is made with Moda Grunge fabrics from my stash, so I do not know the names/numbers of the prints.  Colors range from pale yellow to bold yellow, orange, red, and purple, with the sashing in Grunge Black.

Solids or any fabric that reads as solids will work great to make a Fire quilt.

Many Quilt Sizes

This pattern features four quilt sizes - Baby (Wall Hanging) 39x39, Throw 58x78, Queen 97x97, and King 107x97.  I love doing quilt math, so I include many sizes in all of my quilt patterns.

The Mountain Peaks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Longarm Quilting Design

This small quilt is quilted with the Cultivar design on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher in black thread.  It resembles flames to complete the Fire theme.  :)

Wide Backing

The backing on this quilt is a leftover piece of Widescreen in Black, a backing that is periodically stocked in The Wide Back Shop at Busy Hands Quilts.

Mountain Peaks Throw Quilt Kits!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Connecting Threads has kitted Mountain Peaks in their new Icy Splendor fabric collection!  They have kitted the Throw size, and what is really great is that two quilt kits will make the Queen size with just a tiny bit of waste!  The quilt pattern included with the quilt kit includes all of the quilt sizes, so you'd be set!

The Mountain Peaks Quilt Pattern

The Mountain Peaks quilt pattern includes four quilt sizes - Baby, Throw, Queen, and King.  The Twin  bed size is not included because it doesn't work out mathematically.

This pattern uses five prints plus a background color to create sashed log cabin blocks.  The setting triangles carry the design clear out to the edges of the quilt.

The Connecting Threads quilt kit creates an ombre effect with five fabrics in a single colorway.  The five fabrics do not need to be in the same colorway, as shown in the stunning Fire version of Mountain Peaks, which I just realized I haven't shown you yet!  Stay tuned for that.

Mountain Peaks Throw Quilt in Neutrals!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing this minimalist Mountain Peaks quilt!  This quilt was sewn up last summer as a test quilt for the Mountain Peaks quilt pattern.  The fabrics have tiny flecks of metallic gold for just a bit of a splash.  :)

Mountain Peaks is an easy quilt to make.  This pattern is made with half log cabins and is a spin-off from the Waterfall II quilt pattern, with the addition of sashing between the logs.  The on-point setting with pieced setting triangles create an illusion of mountains.

The "fire" quilt in the background is also made in the Mountain Peaks design!

The Mountain Peaks quilt pattern is in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Mountain Peaks Quilt Pattern

The Mountain Peaks quilt pattern is quick and easy.  With so many blocks being identical to one another, it's really easy to chain piece at every step, speeding up the process.  You'll love how the setting triangles are made, too, which is different than the Waterfall and Waterfall II patterns.

Four Quilt Sizes!

Another great feature of Mountain Peaks is that the quilt pattern includes four quilt sizes!  Previous on-point log cabin patterns featured only two quilt sizes because that's what worked out mathematically, but the block size in this pattern made four sizes of quilts possible. Yay!  I know how much you love King size quilts, so it's great that the King size is possible with this pattern.

  • Baby quilt size
  • Throw quilt size
  • Queen bed size
  • King bed size
This quilt is the Throw size which measures approximately 59" x 79".

Yardage Friendly Quilt Pattern

Because the blocks are all made with the same fabrics, this is a yardage-friendly quilt pattern.  Typically a gradation ombre effect would be created with four or five fabrics in a single colorway, but the Fire version shown at the top of this post breaks that idea into flames.  :)  Made with yellows, oranges, reds, and purple on a background of black, it's definitely a fiery quilt.

This pattern would be amazing made with scraps, with each block different and perhaps even all fabrics in the blocks being different rather than having two strips of the same print as shown in this quilt.

The Mountain Peaks quilt pattern is in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Beautiful Neutral Fabrics

This quilt is made with Dewdrops by Whistler Studios for Windham Fabrics.  It's a beautiful quilt-shop quality fabric collection of tone-on-tone prints with tiny metallic gold flecks, which span the rainbow in over 20 fabrics.  For this quilt, I've chosen only the neutrals from the collection.

We have the entire rainbow of Dewdrop fabrics available for purchase in the Busy Hands Quilts shop right here.  There are FQ bundles, half-yard bundles, and one-yard bundles available.  Here's a peek!

Longarm Quilting Design

The digital quilting design used on this quilt is called Ripples, quilted on my HandiQuilter Fusion with Pro-Stitcher in light gray thread.  The design mimics the wind blowing or rippling water.

The zebra binding is a fabric from the Dewdrop collection and is included in the quilt kits we have curated.

Yes, we have Mountain Peaks quilt kits in neutrals and quilt kits in blues!

Mountain Peaks - A New Quilt Pattern in 4 Sizes + Quilt Kits in the Shop!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Meet Mountain Peaks - another quilt pattern in the log cabin collection at Busy Hands Quilts!

This quilt pattern has been in the works for awhile and is finally ready for you.

Mountain Peaks includes the King size - so many of you have wanted to know how to make Waterfall in the King size, but it didn't work out very easily mathematically, so this one's for you!  Similar to Waterfall, yet the different block sizes make the King size possible - as well as three other sizes - the Baby, Throw, and Queen!

The Mountain Peaks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Next I'll share the Fire version of Mountain Peaks that you see up there!

The Mountain Peaks Quilt Pattern

Mountain Peaks is similar to Waterfall II, with sashing added.  The sashing is a nice and easy width to sew.  I've learned that sashing that is too narrow is difficult to sew into a quilt top.  Another difference between this pattern and Waterfall II is that the different size of blocks made the King size possible in Mountain Peaks.

Mountain Peaks is a log cabin quilt design that includes unique setting triangles that finish the design clear out to the edges.  In this pattern, there are less block types to make, so the quilt top seems to go together fairly quickly.  Don't fret about all of that sashing either.  It's quite simple to do and makes for a lot of "brainless" sewing that is so relaxing.

So Many Quilt Sizes!

The Mountain Peaks quilt pattern includes 4 sizes - Baby, Throw, Queen, and King.  Yay!  The King size!  I know y'all are going to be so happy about that because wanting to make a King size Waterfall or Waterfall II quilt has been the "bestselling" question I have received for over a year.

     Baby  39" x 39"

     Throw  58" x 78"

     Queen  97" x 97"

     King 107" x 97"

So here's your King log cabin quilt pattern!

The Twin size is not included in the pattern because it didn't work out mathematically while keeping the design consistent.  If you wanted to do some figuring, you could change take the Throw size and change the setting triangle blocks on one side and the bottom to full blocks and then place setting triangles outside of the full blocks.  This doesn't make the design symmetrical, but it would most definitely work.  You're on your own for figuring that out, though!  😃

Mountain Peaks Quilt Kits!

Oh yippee skippy!  We have Mountain Peaks quilt kits in the shop!  There are Throws, Queens, and just a few King sized kits available at this time.  The quilt kits include all of the fabric to make this quilt top and binding, as well as the quilt pattern.

We also have coordinating black and gray wide backs in the shop, or you could add a pop of color as the backing - we have all of it in the shop with ten more options set to arrive very soon.

Here are the links for you:

Longarm Quilting

This Mountain Peaks quilt is the Throw size and is quilted with a ripple design in white thread on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher.  I like to put round-ish quilting designs on quilt tops that have so many straight lines of fabric.

The wide back on this quilt is Widescreen in Gray by Robert Kaufman, shown a few pictures above here.  This fabric is available in The Wide Back Shop.
