I am so excited to share with you Precious Plaid, one of my newest quilt designs!  The Precious Plaid quilt pattern includes 5 sizes - Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  This design is woven with five fabrics and large blocks, allowing the quilt to go together quickly.

Precious Plaid has been kitted in the Throw size by Connecting Threads in their fabric collection, Cambridge Flannel!  This kit includes a pattern plus fabric for the quilt top and binding.  Backing fabric and batting are not included.

Precious Plaid is the first quilt in the Donation Quilt Series, which focuses on quilts that use less fabric with large blocks and easy piecing so you can make more donation quilts more quickly.

This pattern is perfect if you want to make a more masculine quilt, and it even works well for the Quilt of Valor program!

The Precious Plaid quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Precious Plaid Throw Quilt in Watercolor Textiles in Blues

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Meet the Precious Plaid quilt pattern in Watercolor Textiles by Stephanie Ryan for P and B Textiles.

This is my first quilt pattern in a new pattern series called Donation Quilts, which will feature different quilt designs with large blocks made with large pieces so they go together quickly and more economically.  The more seams a quilt top has in it, the more fabric is required to make it because seams take up a lot of fabric.

The Precious Plaid quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Introducing Precious Plaid

This is one of five versions I made of Precious Plaid.  I can't remember the last time I made five quilt samples for a pattern release, but I just couldn't help myself when I was going through my fabric stash!  I have found that many fabrics work really well with the Precious Plaid design.  I am so happy with how they all turned out!

Precious Plaid works well in a multitude of color schemes.  For this quilt, I decided to use different shades of blue to create a waterfall-styled quilt.  I adore the use of blues in this quilt!  I love how it gives my home a happy cozy feeling.

This quilt top was made by Kare Ybarra and quilted and bound by me.

Includes 5 Sizes

You know I love to spoil you with options when I can!  Precious Plaid is a quick and easy quilt design that includes 5 sizes - Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  This quilt was made in the Throw size, which measures approximately 54" x 72".

Precious Plaid has easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions, charts, and diagrams for cutting and piecing this stunning quilt.  The pattern uses large blocks to go together quickly and with ease.  I enjoy working with larger blocks because it allows you to use less fabrics, which also uses less seams.  You'll get your quilt made in no time when you use the Precious Plaid quilt pattern!

Precious Plaid Quilt Kits

We have kitted Throw size Precious Plaid in these stunning blue watercolor prints!  The quilt kits include all of the fabric for the quilt top and binding, plus the quilt pattern.

Brilliant Blue Fabrics

I decided to make this version of Precious Plaid using the Color Stories Watercolor Textiles fabric collection by Stephanie Ryan for P and B Textiles.  This quilt incorporates a stunning collection of blues and white that complement each other perfectly to create a soothing design.  A quilt like this would make an excellent gift idea that would create beautiful lasting memories.

The fabrics in this quilt kit, in order listed in the quilt pattern, are as follows:

  1. Solid White
  2. CSTO-5226 LB
  3. CSTO-5226 B
  4. CSTO-5226 DB
  5. CSTO-5226-N

The Precious Plaid quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Longarm Quilting

This quilt was quilted on my new Handi Quilter Amara longarm that I named Gratitude.  The quilting design creates waves of fresh water across the beautiful blue quilt.  The name of this digital design is Coquina by Patricia Ritter.

Precious Plaid Throw Quilt in Dewdrop Fabric

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

I have just created a brand new quilt design that I am dying to share with you!  Meet the Precious Plaid quilt pattern in black, gray, and white.  This is only one of five versions of Precious Plaid that I have made, but I love how striking this quilt looks in these colors.

This is my first quilt pattern a new pattern series I created called Donation Quilts, which will feature different patterns in large blocks and large pieces so that they go together quickly and more economically.  The more seams a quilt top needs, the more fabric is required to make the quilt because seams use up a lot of fabric.

The Precious Plaid quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Meet Precious Plaid

This is one of five versions I made of Precious Plaid.  I can't remember the last time I made five quilt samples for a pattern release, but I just couldn't help myself when I was pulling out fabrics that I thought would work well with Precious Plaid!  And just look at how amazing this one turned out!

Precious Plaid looks good in many color schemes.  For this quilt, I decided to use blacks, grays, and white for a bold and striking look.  A quilt like this would look wonderful in a modern farmhouse-style home.

This quilt top was made by Kare Ybarra and quilted and bound by me.

So Many Sizes!

You know I love spoiling you with all the size options!  Precious Plaid is a stunning quilt design that includes 5 sizes in all - Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  This quilt was made in the Throw size and measures about 54" x 72".

Precious Plaid has easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions, charts, and diagrams for cutting and piecing this quilt.  The pattern uses large blocks because it allows you to use less fabrics, which in turn uses less seams.  You'll finish your own Precious Plaid quilt in no time!

Beautiful Fabric

For this quilt, I used the Dewdrop fabric collection by Windham Fabrics.  Dewdrop is an older fabric collection that came in a rainbow of fabrics.  We previous stocked the entire collection and kitted Waterfall II quilt kits.  For this quilt, the black and gray prints were selected to make this quilt stand out.  A quilt like this would look great as a gift for someone with a modern, neutral decor style.

The backing is Basic Shades in Granite by Riley Blake, available right here in our shop.

The Precious Plaid quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Longarm Machine Quilting

This Precious Plaid quilt was quilted on my Handi Quilter Amara longarm machine using a triangle design called Zing by Sarah Ann Meyers / Patricia Ritter in light gray thread.

New Quilt Pattern! Precious Plaid Throw Quilt in Red White and Blue Shimmer Tonals

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

I have a brand new quilt pattern that I am so excited to share with you!  This has been a work in progress for some time now, but the time has finally come when I can share my latest creation with you.  Meet the Precious Plaid quilt pattern in red, white, and blue!

This is my first quilt pattern in a new pattern series called Donation Quilts, which will feature quilt designs with big blocks with big pieces so they go together quickly and more economically.  The more seams a quilt top has in it, the more fabric is required to make it because seams use up a lot of fabric.

The Precious Plaid quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Changing Our Focus to Donating Quilts

The new focus here at Busy Hands Quilts is donating quilts to those in need instead of keeping the quilts stored away unused in a closet.  We will be striving to maintain the balance between donating quilts and selling quilts to help pay for supplies to make more quilts to donate.

We recently donated 16 quilts to the Woodburn Christian Children's Home in Indiana and plan to donate more soon, so each child receives a quilt for Christmas.  We will be having a quilt sample sale very soon in October 2024, with proceeds going to purchase supplies to make more quilts to donate.  The quilts that do not sell in the quilt sample sale will be donated to victims of sexual abuse in the religious group known as the "2x2s" or "the Truth".

Meet Precious Plaid

This is the fifth of five versions I made of Precious Plaid.  When I mocked up this design in the new Shimmer Tonals fabrics from Connecting Threads, I knew I had to make it and hoped it would work for the cover quilt, and it did not disappoint!  I can't remember the last time I made five quilt samples for a pattern release, but I just couldn't help myself when I was pulling out fabrics that I thought would work well with Precious Plaid!  And I am so happy with how they all turned out!

Precious Plaid works well in a variety of color schemes.  For this quilt, I decided to use red, white, and blue colors, which gives the quilt a more patriotic feel to it.  A quilt like this would look absolutely dashing displayed in a modern farmhouse-style home.

5 Sizes Included

You know how much I love spoiling you with options!  Precious Plaid is a unique quilt design that includes 5 sizes - Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  This quilt was made in the Throw size, which measures approximately 54" x 72".

Precious Plaid has easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions, charts, and diagrams for cutting and piecing this quilt.  The pattern uses large blocks and large pieces so that they go together quickly and easily.  I enjoy working with large pieces because it allows you to use less fabrics, which also uses less seams.  You'll get your quilt made in no time with the Precious Plaid pattern!

This quilt is easily pieced in a day or two.

Perfectly Patriotic Fabric

I decided to make this Precious Plaid quilt using the Shimmer Tonals fabric collection by Connecting Threads.  This is a shimmering fabric collection that includes a rainbow of 40 colors.  This collection will be an evergreen collection at Connecting Threads, so it will be available for the foreseeable future!  I chose the red and blue colors from the collection to create an American version, and the quilt really pops!

A quilt like this would make an excellent addition to the Quilt of Valor program, which makes quilts for United States Military Veterans.

The fabrics in this quilt are Shimmer Tonals from Connecting Threads.  Their names, in the order listed in the pattern, are as follows:

  1. Solid white
  2. Glacier
  3. Admiral Blue
  4. Red
  5. Navy
Click here to see these fabrics at Connecting Threads.

The backing is Mix in Navy by Timeless Treasures, available in our shop right here.  The binding is Shimmer Tonals in Navy.

Precious Plaid Throw Christmas Quilt in Green and Red Mirage Tonals Flannels

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

I am so happy to announce that I have a brand new quilt design to share with you called Precious Plaid.  Precious Plaid is a design I have been working with for some time now, and the time has finally come when I can share it with you!

Precious Plaid is my first quilt pattern in a new pattern series called Donation Quilts, which will feature quilt designs with big blocks made of big pieces of fabric so they can go together quickly and more economically.  The more seams a quilt top has in it, the more fabric is required to make it because seams use up a lot of fabric material.

The Precious Plaid quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Say Hello to Precious Plaid in Christmas colors!

This is one of five versions I made of Precious Plaid.  I can't even recall the last time I made five quilt samples for a pattern release, but here we are!

Precious Plaid works so nicely in different color schemes.  For this quilt, I went for a Christmas-y approach and used reds, greens, and light cream, to make a festive quilt.  I oh-so-love the cheeriness that this quilt brings!

Available in 5 Sizes

You know I love spoiling you with multiple-size options.  Precious Plaid is a fun and unique design that includes 5 sizes - Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  This quilt was made in the Throw size, which measures approximately 54" x 72".

Precious Plaid has easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions, charts, and diagrams for cutting and piecing this delightful quilt.  The pattern uses large blocks because it allows you to use fewer fabrics, which also uses fewer seams.  You'll finish making your quilt in no time with the Precious Plaid quilt pattern!

Fantastic Flannel Fabric!

For this quilt, I decided to use the Mirage Tonals Flannels fabric collection by Connecting Threads, selecting from the reds, greens, and cream for a holiday-inspired quilt.  With the holidays quickly approaching, I thought what better time to use the Christmas-y colors.

Below are the Mirage Tonals Flannel fabrics used in this quilt, listed in the order as shown in the pattern.

  1. Parchment
  2. Peapod
  3. Forest
  4. Red

Precious Plaid Baby Quilt in Mirage Tonals Flannels

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Another new quilt design is here!  Meet the Precious Plaid quilt pattern in the Baby size.  This design has taken a while to be released, but it was worth the wait!

This is my first quilt pattern in a new series called Donation Quilts.  This series will feature quilt designs that use large blocks with large pieces of fabric that go together quickly and more economically.  The more seams a quilt top has in it, the more fabric is needed to make the quilt because seams take up a lot of fabric.  As is customary in all of my quilt patterns, patterns in the Donation Quilt Series will include all of the quilt sizes!

The Precious Plaid quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Precious Plaid Quilt Pattern

Precious Plaid is made with big blocks which create a plaid design when assembled together.  The big blocks are made with large pieces of fabric for easy, quick piecing.

This is one of five versions I made of Precious Plaid.  I can't even remember the last time I made five quilt samples for one pattern release, but all of the different fabrics were calling to me!  And I am so happy with how they all turned out!  You will find the other four quilts in blog posts right here on the blog.

There are so many color schemes that work well with Precious Plaid.  For this quilt, I used aqua and blue with a pop of apple green in flannel fabrics that work really well to make a baby quilt.

Includes 5 Quilt Sizes

I just love to spoil you with all the possible size options for my designs!  Precious Plaid comes in 5 sizes in all - Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  This quilt was made in the Baby size, which measures approximately 42" x 45".

Precious Plaid has easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions, charts, and diagrams for cutting and piecing this lovely quilt.  The pattern uses large blocks which go together quickly and easily.  I personally enjoy working with large blocks with large piece sizes because it means there are fewer seams.  You will finish your version of Precious Plaid finished in a snap!

Fabulous Flannel Fabric!

For this Precious Plaid quilt, I decided to use the Mirage Tonals Flannel fabric collection by Connecting Threads.  These are high-quality flannels that is substantial with one side brushed - they aren't thin at all.

This is a lovely blend of aqua and blue with a pop of apple green for a bright and happy quilt.  I love how much this quilt pops!

The following Mirage Tonal Flannel fabrics are used in this quilt, numbered as shown in the pattern.

  1. Citron
  2. Ocean Mist
  3. Teal
  4. Parrot
  5. Admiral Blue

The binding is Admiral Blue and the backing is Teal.

Click here to shop these fabrics at Connecting Threads.

The Precious Plaid quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Longarm Machine Quilting

This version of Precious Plaid was quilted on my new Handi Quilter Amara longarm that I call Gratitude.  I used the Double Bubble #2 digital design by Patricia Ritter in white thread.  This is the first quilt I quilted on my new machine, and I forgot to change the thread color to a fun color!  I love the movement that the bubbles create across the quilt!
