Four Waterfall II Quilts by Our Customers!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

One of my favorite things about creating and distributing quilt patterns to quilters like you is getting the opportunity to see my customer's finished quilts.  I also am grateful for the community that my job has started to create as well.

When you have witnessed a gift from the people using your patterns, it is a must to share that talent with other likeminded people.  I thought it would be a good idea to share some of these creations sent to me by some of my customers, not only to show off their glorious quilts, but also in hopes to inspire others to create lasting memories in my patterns.

If you are interested in sharing your finished quilts with us, or are interested in seeing more of what others have created, then feel free to join our Busy Hands Quilts Facebook Group, where everyone is encouraged to share their finished quilts in my pattern as well as its story.  I am both amazed and grateful for the amount of activity that has already taken place in the group and am awestruck with all of the talent that everyone seems to possess.

The following quilts were made by four different customers of mine.  Each person put their own unique touch on their own Waterfall II quilt pattern.

The Waterfall II quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Finished Quilt by Kara Sorbel

This stunning quilt was made by Busy Hands Quilts customer, Kara Sorbel, who has created her own Waterfall II quilt in my pattern.  Kara one day witnessed a beautiful sunset that she captured, which influenced the color choices for her darling quilt.  She shared her finished quilt and the sunset that inspired it all and I am happy to share them with you as well!

The Waterfall II Quilt Pattern

Waterfall II is a multi-sized log cabin quilt pattern with unique setting triangles to finish the stunning design clear out to the edge.  In the cover quilt, you will use five hues of a single colorway to create a gradating ombre colorwash that will draw you in with its beauty.  Color options abound and are not limited to a single colorway - make a rainbow; a red, white, and blue quilt; or any other combination you can come up with.  Your only limit is your imagination!

The Waterfall II quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Finished Quilt by Ellen

Busy Hands Quilts customer, Ellen, used my Waterfall II quilt pattern and turned it into a beautiful quilt that really pops with the colors she chose!  Ellen made this quilt as a gift for her grandson's high school graduation.  Way to go!  I love the idea of making personalized gifts for loved ones, because it's not just something you can buy that they will remember, but it's also your legacy that will last a lifetime.

Finished Quilt by Sheena

The above image is a finished quilt by Busy Hands Quilts customer, Sheena, using our Waterfall II quilt pattern.  This person did a marvelous job with this quilt!  You can really see the amount of time and care that went into it.  Terrific job Sheena!

Finished Quilt by Pamela

The final quilt I am pleased to share with you (and no, not just because there is a puppers in it) is my Waterfall II quilt pattern in fire that was turned into an absolutely breathtaking quilt by Busy Hands Quilts customer, Pamela.  Pamela made this quilt for one of her friends.  Well done Pamela!  I am sure your friend will be astonished by this quilt and she is very lucky to have such a sweet and devoted friend like you.  : )

Share the love!

I hope these quilters have inspired you to create your own one-of-a-kind masterpiece!  I love getting sent finished quilts by people who use my patterns and I especially love getting the opportunity to share them with you!  If you are interested in sharing your work with us, please take a good quality photo of your finished quilt in my pattern and post it in the Busy Hands Quilts Facebook Group.  And don't just share pictures, share its story!  I always love hearing how your quilt came to be, who it's for, and what drew you to its pattern.

Waterfall II Quilt in Island Batik Basics Foundations

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

I am pleased to share with you the Waterfall II quilt pattern in brilliant blues!  Waterfall II is a multi-sized log cabin quilt pattern with unique setting triangles to finish the stunning design clear out to the edges of the quilt.  There are two sizes available in the pattern - Throw and Queen size.  This beautiful pattern is perfect for making quilts to share with your family!

The Waterfall II quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

The Waterfall II Pattern

Waterfall II includes two sizes - Throw and Queen with unique pieced setting triangles to make the design flow out to the edges of the quilt.  Clear instructions with both text and graphics are given for fabric placement at every step of the quilt-making process.

Island Batik Basics Foundations Fabrics

Waterfall II is made with five fabrics in a single colorway, ranging from light to dark, adding in a light neutral and a dark; in this case white and black.  Of course, there are no limits to the fabric colors you could choose, and they could be from multiple colorways such as a rainbow, or red, white, and blue.

The Basics Foundations line of fabrics from Island Batik are batik tonals that work perfectly as blenders for other fabrics, or on their own, as shown in this quilt.  Batik fabrics lend amazing depth to quilts with the subtle variations in the hues in a single fabric.  This quilt is made with the Brilliant Blues colorway from Basics Foundations collection.  This colorway ranges from icy blue to the darkest of night navy, with many hues of aquas and blues in between.

You can read more about the Island Batik Basics Foundations fabric collection on Pages 15-21 of the Spring / Summer 2023 Catalog.  The catalog also features Waterfall II in three other colorways, and these quilts are shown below.  This gives quilt shops (and you!) ideas for curating Waterfall II quilt kits in these amazing fabrics.

Longarm Quilting

This Waterfall II quilt is longarm quilted with Double Bubble II by Patricia Ritter.  It is a digital design in medium blue thread, completed on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher.  It's a beautiful design that takes on the look of the quilt top - in this case - bubbly water.

This quilt top was made by Kare Ybarra and quilted and bound by me.

The binding is the deep gray/black batik used as the sashing around the log cabin quilt blocks.

The quilt in the background of the photo above is the original Waterfall II quilt, made with Moda Grunge fabrics.

The Waterfall II quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Quilt Backing

This quilt is backed with a teal Island Batik fabric, a simple and very effective backing fabric that blends in with the quilt top perfectly.

What is the difference between the Waterfall and Waterfall II quilt patterns?

The original Waterfall quilt pattern includes two colorways, each with five fabrics each, plus a light and very dark accent as sashing.  The Waterfall II quilt pattern includes a single colorway, with five fabrics and a light and very dark accent as sashing.  You can view the original Waterfall quilt right here.

Waterfall II Throw Quilt in Purples!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing a Waterfall II quilt in the Throw size, made in beautiful purples!  I hear from so many of you that Purple is your favorite!

The Waterfall II quilt pattern has unique setting triangles that finish the design clear out to the edges for a truly beautiful finish.

The Waterfall II quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

What is the difference between the Waterfall and Waterfall II quilt patterns??

Waterfall II is designed with a single colorway and uses 7 fabrics total.  The original Waterfall quilt pattern (shown in the picture below) is designed with two colorways, one on each side of the log cabin block, and uses 13 fabrics total.

Those Beautiful Purple Fabrics!

This quilt is made with the purple and black fabrics in the Coco fabric collection by Michael Miller, a collection that was new about a year ago.  This collection is a rarity in that there are five hues in each colorway in the collection, which is perfect for Waterfall!  There are eight different colorways in this collection - Purples, Pinks, Red/Oranges, Greens, Teals, Aquas, and Blues.  Most collections do not have this many hues in a colorway.  You will find Coco right here.

Two Sizes - Throw and Queen

Waterfall II includes the Throw and Queen sizes.  Most of my quilt patterns include all of the sizes from Baby to King, whatever works out mathematically.  I get a lot of requests for this pattern in the King size, but it wasn't included in the quilt pattern because it ends up 119" square when another row of blocks is added to the side and bottom.

The Waterfall II quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Longarm Quilting Design

The digital longarm quilting design is Ribbon Curls, one of my favorite quilting designs.  The thread color is a medium purple, done on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher.

This pattern features 6 fabrics in a single colorway and a background fabric, typically black.  Of course, you can also use any combination of colors, such as the Fire quilt Deanna made with purple, red, orange, and yellow.  Check that quilt out right here.

Waterfall II Throw Quilt in Fire - More Pictures!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today's feature is a Waterfall II quilt in the Fire Version!  The Fire version is inspired by Deanna, a quilter from Oregon who sent me a picture of her quilt, and it was love on fire at first sight!

The Fire version of Waterfall II is made with yellowy-oranges, reds, and deep purple with black sashing.

The Waterfall II quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

The Waterfall II Pattern

The Waterfall II quilt pattern includes two sizes - Throw and Queen - because that's what worked out mathematically to preserve the design.

Waterfall II is a stunning log cabin quilt design that includes unique setting triangles that finish the design clear out to the edges of the quilt.

What is the difference between the Waterfall and Waterfall II quilt pattern designs?  The original Waterfall uses two colorways in a total of 12 fabrics, with one colorway appearing on each side of the log cabin blocks.  Waterfall II uses 7 fabrics, with all fabrics appearing on both sides of the log cabin blocks.  Thus, the cutting is very different between the two patterns, and the finished look it also different.

The Waterfall II quilt pattern is easy to make.  With detailed cutting and labeling instructions, you'll know right where each fabric is used in the blocks.  While there are a variety of block styles to make, the instructions are easy-to-follow for each of them.

Waterfall II Quilt Kits in Fire

We have curated quilt kits in Waterfall II Fire, in these exact fabrics shown, and they are available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.  All fabric for the quilt top and binding are including, but the quilt kits do not include the pattern since so many of you have purchased it already.

The Waterfall II quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

In the background of the image above, the blue quilt on the ladder is the original Waterfall II quilt made in Moda Grunge.

Longarm Machine Quilting

The quilting design is Cultivar, a fiery flame design to accent the fire theme in the fabrics.  Thread color is deep orange, quilted on my HandiQuilter Fusion with Pro-Stitcher.

The Waterfall II quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Waterfall II Fire Throw Quilt by Deanna!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing more pictures of Deanna's Fire Waterfall II quilt!  It's a stunning quilt that inspired me to make a similar quilt, too!

The Waterfall II quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Deanna sent me a picture of her quilt top at the encouragement of fellow quilters at a retreat she was attending.  It took my breath away, and I offered to quilt it for her so I could take pictures of it.

The rest is history, as they say!

I found the perfect fabrics for a Fire version using metallic tone-on-tone prints.  You can see my version of the Fire quilt right here.  We also curated quilt kits, available right here.

The Waterfall II Quilt Pattern

The Waterfall II quilt pattern includes two sizes - Throw and Queen - because that's what worked out mathematically.

The pattern includes unique setting triangles that finish the design clear out to the edges, for a truly stunning quilt.  Don't worry - the detailed instructions and illustrations guide you every step of the way.

Longarm Quilting

The digital quilting design on this quilt is Cultivar, which resembles flames of fire.  So fun to quilt!  The thread is an orangy-red to blend in with most of the quilt top.  Quilted on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher.

Fabrics

Deanna chose solids for her quilt top.  The backing is Widescreen in Black by Robert Kaufman, a wide backing fabric we try to keep in stock stock in The Wide Back Shop.  The binding is solid black.

The Waterfall II quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Waterfall II Quilt Kits are available right here.  We have them in Fire, as well as Purples.
