QAYG Quilt-Along End of Week 1 and My Caroline Dress

Um, I'm supposed to have five blocks done as of yesterday, but I don't!!  Today I finished cutting my delicious Lecien Flower Sugar collection.  The center squares are fussy cut 5" squares, and the outer strips are 3.5" wide.  You can read about this quilt-along here.  Jera, the author of Quilt-As-You-Go Made Modern is hosting the quilt-along.

Also in the works this week is a Caroline dress for a harvest party we will be attending this Friday.  You do know who Caroline is, don't you?  She is Laura Ingalls Wilder's mother!!  I'm behind on it, too.  It's all cut out, and I just began the bodice tonight.   {Sigh}

I'm using this pattern.  Most costume patterns have fitted bodices, and that certainly won't work for me, so I was happy to find this old-fashioned dress pattern with a less fitted top.  I also really like the pattern because it has a waist rather than being a wide sack with an apron to pull the miles of fabric in at the waist.  Just don't need that extra fabric at the waist, ya' know!  If I had more time I would make the chemise and pantaloons.  I do plan to make the bonnet and apron.

I love Jera's stuff. She was my main inspiration for starting a blog. AND I actually won an autographed book on her Instagram giveaway. I've used several of her tutes and am looking forward to making her book patterns. Which pattern are you making w/the Lecien Flower Sugar collection? Looking forward to seeing your finished QAYG and your costume. I found you on Let's Bee Social. Buzz on over to my blog for a visit. And follow me if you are so inclined.
