Table runners are so fun to make because they are so quick! Today I'm sharing a Picket Fence table runner with you. This quilt is on display in my local quilt shop, Tangled Threads.
Picket Fence Pattern Features
- 7 sizes - including both square and rectangular Throws and Queens
- Strip piecing - no sewing together individual squares for a quick finish
- 10" square layer cake friendly
- Queen and King sizes use layer cake squares and jelly roll strips for a more efficient, quick finish
Oh Those Fabrics!
This Picket Fence table runner is made with layer cake squares from the Land of Liberty collection by Riley Blake, available right here. I love that this patriotic Americana collection uses bright white rather than snow or ivory. The designs in the collection are florals in several scales, text, triangle gingham, pinwheels, and more.
Longarm Quilting
This Picket Fence table runner is quilted in white thread with Pinwheel Posies, a digital design, on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher. I quilted four table runners on the same piece of extra-wide backing. This saves a lot of time over loading backing onto the rails and then removing the finished quilt four times. Let's save time so we can make more quilts! :)
Table Runner Pattern
Mini Picket Fence is a true table runner / wall hanging quilt pattern that is a mini version of Picket Fence, meaning the blocks are made with charm squares and are much smaller. You can see Mini Picket Fence right over over here. Even in that pattern, you won't be sewing together those tiny squares individually; it's all strip pieced. :) It includes 4 sizes - Small and Large Table Runners, and Small and Large Table Toppers which are square.
