Picnic Plaid Baby or Wall Hanging Quilt in Picadilly

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Last but not least in the five Picnic Plaid quilts I've shared here on the blog is a Baby quilt in Picadilly, or maybe it's a Wall Hanging or Table Topper; that's what I plan to use it for myself!

The Picnic Plaid quilt design is a strip-pieced Granny's Square design, so quick to make with jelly roll strips or even fat quarters, or strips from your stash bins.  Included are five sizes, too.

We have Picadilly Throw size quilt kits currently available in the shop.

The Picnic Plaid quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

The Picadilly Fabric Collection

Picadilly is a truly American-style fabric collection with stars, stripes, bandana, and fireworks prints in reds, blues, gray, and white.  They're perfect for Picnic Plaid, and I look forward to using this as a table topper in my dining room.  Oh right, there isn't a table in there because we sold almost all of the furniture before our big cross-country move from Washington State to Ohio this past summer.  It hasn't been too high of a priority to replace yet, but we do have company coming for several weeks very soon, so we will be using a plastic folding table for now.  😬

Anyhoo, those fabrics!  This is Picadilly for Riley Blake Designs.  So much beautifulness!  A number of the prints are included in all of the colorways, and a number of them are stars.  💢

You can shop Picadilly here and here.

The Picnic Plaid Quilt Pattern

The Picnic Plaid quilt pattern includes 5 sizes - Baby (perfect for a Wall Hanging or Table Topper), Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  You'll love having all of the sizes.

It's also precut friendly, perfect for jelly rolls, fat quarters, or 1/4-yard cuts.  Use your stash!

Strip pieced for a quick and easier finish.  This is considered an intermediate quilt pattern because it is set on point, so some previous experience is suggested to make this quilt top.

The Picnic Plaid quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Longarm Machine Quilting

The digital longarm quilting design used on this quilt is Stars and Loops, done in white thread on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher.

The backing and binding fabric is a print from the Picadilly collection.

The Picnic Plaid quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Quilty Cabins Quilt in Picadilly

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing a red, white, and blue Quilty Cabins quilt in the Throw size.  This quilt pattern combines log cabin blocks with heart blocks all in one!  The hearts are pieced right in, and this pattern is all traditional piecing and does not include any applique.  You can easily make it!

The Quilty Cabins quilt pattern includes all of the sizes so you don't have to do any math to create the size you really want to make.  It also has two layout options for two different looks.

The Quilty Cabins quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Ah, this is a sweet picture with the quilt hanging on the pool shed at our previous home in Washington State.  We've been in Ohio for over two months already, and we are really loving it!

The Quilty Cabins Quilt Pattern

This pattern includes two layout options - Traditional and Offset.  This is the Offset layout, with the blocks forming waves of logs down the quilt top.  Perfect for a red, white, and blue Americana quilt!  The Traditional layout has the blocks laid out in standard rows.  Click here to see a Quilty Cabins in the Traditional layout.

The Quilty Cabins quilt pattern includes all of the sizes - 6 in all - Baby, Throw, Twin, Square Queen, Rectangular Queen, and King.  The Full size didn't work out, unfortunately, so it's not included in the quilt pattern.

Use fat quarters from your stash or scraps from your scrap bins for a stunning scrappy quilt!

Red White and Blue Fabrics

The Picadilly fabric collection includes so many amazing prints in a number of colorways - navy, medium blues, red, and grays.  Stars, bandanas, fireworks, circles, and orange peels add a 4th of July / Labor Day feel to the fabrics.  Click here to see the Picadilly fabrics.

That quilt above on the ladder is the Good Morning quilt pattern.  Click here to see the Good Morning quilt pattern (jelly roll friendly and strip pieced for a quick and easy finish)!  It's made with the same fabrics as this Quilty Cabins quilt.

Longarm Quilting

The quilting design on this quilt is Double Bubble in light gray thread, finished on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher.

The backing fabric is a print from the Picadilly collection, and the same print was used for the binding.

This quilt top was made by Kare, one of my professional sewists.

The hearts are pieced right into the quilt blocks, and no applique is required to make this quilt.  I have tried applique on occasion and have never fallen in love with it, so as of now, you won't find it in any of my quilt patterns.  Never say never, though!

Forever Stars Throw Quilt in Hometown Americana!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

This week I finished a Forever Stars quilt in the Throw size.  Oh my, how I love those giant stars!

The Quilt Kit!

Forever Stars has been kitted in the Throw size by Connecting Threads in their Hometown Americana Vol 3 fabric collection.  This quilt is made from their kit.  This fabric collection is printed on premium Luxe cotton grown in the USA.  It's a lovely collection of muted reds and navys.  The background fabric is a Faux Linen in navy, adding a lovely dimension to the quilt top.   Check out the quilt kit right here.

This quilt top was pieced by my sewist Joanne and quilted and bound by me.

All the Sizes!

The Forever Stars quilt pattern includes all the sizes - 6 in all - Baby Lap Throw Twin Queen and King - so you're covered no matter which size of quilt you'd like to make.  I am all about spoilin' you with many sizes in most all of the patterns I write.

Can You Say "Huge Stars"?

Yep, the stars in this quilt are huge.  I squealed when I first saw this design sewn up, because I couldn't tell on a computer screen how deliciously large the stars actually were.  Really big indeed! That makes for a quilt quilt finish, too!

Longarm Quilting

This Forever Stars quilt is quilted with a waving flag and star design in navy thread on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher, the perfect complement to the patriotic colors and design of the quilt.

So Many Fabric Options!

Forever Stars is written for four prints plus a background fabric, but you can let your imagination run and discover that this design will look great with each star made from a single fabric, or the entire quilt made from scraps.  I have one of single-colored stars in solids on a gray background cut and ready to go, waiting its turn to be pieced.
