Brick Cottage Lane 2 Quilt Pattern Update and Sale!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Brick Cottage Lane 2 quilt pattern cover has been updated and is currently on sale, including a preorder of the printed version!  In addition to a new cover, there were a few minor updates in the pattern that reduced the number of pages, but the bones of the pattern are the same.

The joy of this pattern is that I have figured out how to strip piece this quilt and have worked out all of the math and techy stuff for you.  It would be extremely time-consuming to piece this quilt brick by brick - though not impossible.  To save you incredible amounts of time and sanity, you will sew together strips of fabric into strip sets and then sub-cut segments from the strip sets.  Then sew the segments together as shown in the pattern, and you have saved yourself BOAT LOADS of time.  And that means you'll have time to make more quilts!  :)

You could, of course, cut a zillion bricks and sew them together one by one; there's no judgment in that.  The pattern also includes the traditional piecing this quilt, one brick at a time.

I have made Brick Cottage Lane 2 three times, all in king size.  If you can imagine, I have another one cut out to make another king size, this one in Island Batik British Rose.  That's on the to-do list for 2020.

This one is made with Island Batik Boho fabric collection, made in 2018 as an Island Batik Ambassador.

This is the first Brick Cottage Lane 2 quilt I made.  The fabrics are various Bonnie and Camille collections.

This is Simply Color by V and Co.  All three of these quilts have sold in my quilt shop.

Brick Cottage Lane {2} in Boho by Island Batik - a Stop on the Getaway Blog Hop!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Welcome to the Getaway Blog Hop!

2018 Island Batik Ambassadors have been busy with some secret sauce sewing lately ... and today I can share mine!

Boho is a stunning new fabric collection by Island Batik, made with the happiest of purples, pinks, oranges and yellows with a splash of turquoise.  The bold colors pair so well with Brick Cottage Lane {2} where they really stand out from the background.  All but two of the fabrics in the Boho collection are in this quilt.

This is Brick Cottage Lane {2} in a generous queen size.  The pattern comes in 5 sizes from Baby to King.  The queen can be oriented either direction, but in the other sizes the bricks are placed vertically.

Can you believe this quilt design is strip pieced?  The pattern includes instructions for traditional piecing as well, but strip piecing saves SO much time!

If your local quilt shop carries Island Batik fabrics, I encourage you to purchase them there.  Supporting your local shop keeps a fabric shop nearby open.  If your local shop quilt doesn't carry Island Batik fabrics, ask the shop owner to carry them.  You can also shop online for Island Batik fabrics.

The batting inside this quilt is Hobbs Heirloom Cotton, one of my favorite battings from the Hobbs collection.

Brick Cottage Lane 2 | Finished or Not Friday Linky Party

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My Finish is a king size Brick Cottage Lane {2} quilt.  I made this quilt top last summer, and it's finally finished!

Some of you saw this last week, but it's the only thing I have ready to share today.  My other sewing this week was my upcoming pattern, and it's not quite ready to share.

And here it is on a full size bed, so the overhang won't be this much on a queen or king.

The quilting is an edge-to-edge floral design which will be my go-to pattern and one that I offer to customers when I begin custom quilting.  I've named my new machine Gratitude, which is a combination of grateful and attitude!  Have a grateful attitude!

The Brick Cottage Lane {2} pattern includes 5 sizes from baby to king with instructions for traditional piecing, as well as strip piecing to make the process faster.  You can buy the pattern in my pattern shop.

And here is Brick Cottage Lane {2} in Bonnie and Camille prints and white.  Super sweet!

Quilt Stats:
  • Pattern:  Brick Cottage Lane {2} available below.
  • Size:  102" x 93" after washing.
  • Fabric:  Simply Color by V&Co with a Kona gray.
  • Quilting:  Digital e2e flower design on Gratitude.

If you want your quilt featured here next week, be sure to put a link back to this post in your post or sidebar, or tag @busyhandsquilts on Instagram, AND link directly to your blog post so I don't have to hunt it down.

  • Any in-progress or finished project made with fabric, yarn, or thread is welcome!
  • Projects from this week only!

Finished or Not Friday | a King Size Brick Cottage Lane {2}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My not finished is a king size Brick Cottage Lane {2} quilt which had been aging in the closet for 9 months!

I made this quilt top when I wrote the pattern last summer, but I chose to use the Bonnie and Camille version for the cover quilt, and this quilt didn't get quilted... until now!  I intended to finish the quilting and bind it today, but it took a long time to quilt this big baby, and I had to take lots of chauffeuring breaks!  Here she is just coming off the quilting frame.

Blogger's Quilt Festival {Brick Cottage Lane 2 ♥ Large Quilt Category}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Time flies, and it's already time for The Blogger's Quilt Festival at Amy's Creative Side!  I'm entering Brick Cottage Lane {2} into the Large Quilt Category of the Festival.  This quilt is a king size.

The backing and binding are the delicious extra wide navy check from the Vintage Picnic line by Bonnie and Camille.  I quilted Brick Cottage Lane {2} on Mrs.Singer, my antique 31-15 mounted on a long-arm quilting frame.  She has a patent date of 1896 and could have been made as recently as 1930.

This quilt is made entirely of Bonnie and Camille fabrics - Vintage Picnic, Daysail, Miss Kate, along with Kona Cotton Snow.

I wrote the pattern for Brick Cottage Lane {2}, and this pattern is available for purchase in my Craftsy shop and my Etsy shop!  Buy your copy today!

You can nominate your favorite three quilts for the Viewer's Choice Awards HERE.

I am entering a quilt in the Scrappy Quilt Category of The Blogger's Quilt Festival - that would be Brick Cottage Lane, not to be confused with this quilt, Brick Cottage Lane {2} (they are different quilts).  I invite you to go on over and check her out, too!

I'd also like to invite you to join me every Friday here on my blog for Finished Or Not Friday, where we share our finished {or not!} projects! Follow Busy Hands Quilts via BlogLovin' as a reminder to link up!

Blogger's Quilt Festival {Brick Cottage Lane ♥ Scrappy Quilt Category}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Fall is here, and it's time for The Blogger's Quilt Festival at Amy's Creative Side!  I'm entering Brick Cottage Lane into the Scrappy Category of the Festival.  This quilt is a twin size.  I made six coordinating valances for my living room windows which you can view on this page.

This quilt is made from a variety of fabrics from Bonnie and Camille lines, Gooseberry, and other prints from my scrap bin.  The backing and binding are the delicious extra wide red check from the Vintage Picnic line by Bonnie and Camille.  I quilted Brick Cottage Lane on Mrs.Singer, my antique 31-15 mounted on a long-arm quilting frame.  She has a patent date of 1896 and could have been made as recently as 1930.

Finished or Not Friday {a Linky Party!} + Brick Cottage Lane Quilted Window Valances!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My finish to share this week is six window valances in the Brick Cottage Lane pattern!  They are mini quilts with a pocket rod added for hanging.  They are so cheerful, and I ♥ them hanging in my living room!

Last week's most viewed link was Twiggy and Opal's Crosscut Quilt!  What a great use of low-volume fabrics and pink!

It's your turn to share your finish {or not}!  What's welcome at this party?  Any in-progress or finished project made with fabric, yarn, or thread is welcome!  Include the Finished or Not Friday button or a text link that links back to this week's link-up in order to share the fun.  No, I won't delete your link if you don't, but hey, adding a link in your post is just being friendly, so be friendly and share!!

Finished or Not Friday {a Linky Party!}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Welcome to the first edition of Finished or Not Friday where you can share what you've worked on this week, finished or not!  Creations with fabric, thread, or yarn are welcome.

My FINISH for the week is the gelato rainbow bargello quilt I made as part of the Bargello QAL over at Elm Street Quilts which ended in March!  My original attempt at quilting with flowing lines that followed the curve of the bargello was dismal, so I took it all out and quilted it with straight lines in a starburst design.  Much better!  The Gelato ombre fabric is very difficult to find but is similar to Benartex Gradations.

Elm Street Quilts

Each week I will feature an entry from the previous week's link-up, but since there are no entries from last week {LOL!}, I will enter my own.  Here's Brick Cottage Lane {2}, a pattern I released this week!  The pattern includes instructions for strip piecing as well as traditional piecing in 5 sizes from baby to king, using yardage or scraps.  You can purchase your copy in my shop.

It's your turn!  Link up any fabric, thread, or yarn creation that you worked on this week!  Adding a link back to the party in your post is friendly, so be friendly and share!

Brick Cottage Lane {2} {a New Pattern!}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Meet Brick Cottage Lane {2} - an eye-catching quilt that's easier than it looks with strip piecing!  The pattern includes instructions for 5 sizes from baby to king, using yardage as well as scraps.  If you prefer traditional piecing rather than strip piecing, you'll find instructions just for you, too!

The quilt above is a king size in Bonnie & Camille lines Vintage Picnic, Miss Kate, and a few Daysail prints with Kona Snow.  The backing and binding are the extra-wide dark navy check from the Vintage Picnic line.

Alycia of Alycia Quilts tested the pattern in patriotic fabrics in lap size.  I ♥ the scrappy background fabrics and the bold red and cool blues!  I would never have thought to use more than one fabric for the background, and I must do this one day!  Alycia is a long-arm quilter in Colorado.

Brick Cottage Lane {2} is available in my Craftsy shop and my Etsy shop.  Please purchase from my Etsy shop if you are in the European Union.  Thank you for your support!

To-Do Tuesday {a sneak peek at Brick Cottage Lane 2!!}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Here's a peek into my sewing room today!  My to-do list includes working on a king size Brick Cottage Lane 2 quilt in Bonnie and Camille's Vintage Market, Miss Kate, and Daysail fabrics!  The revised version of Brick Cottage Lane is set to release in less than two weeks!  This is the second king I've made in the pattern, and can I just say, it's stunning!  This pattern is now available for purchase in my Craftsy shop!

One of my dear boys made quick work of a rainbow-ish pile of Hatch fabrics for me this weekend, turning them into HSTs with my Accuquilt Go!  These lovelies are for a queen-sized quilt for my oldest son.  I'm planning on writing this pattern later this summer!  It might even be a free tutorial!

I'm made some progress on the Repeat QAL, completing the letters u and i.  This week I'll complete letters q, l, and t, just awaiting the s to make "quilts".  The aqua floral will be the border on the quilt.

And this lovely bundle of Kona Cotton needs cut for the Summer Solstice QAL!

It's a big list but so full of fun!
