Sweetness Throw Quilt in Dream - a bright and happy rainbow quilt!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing a bright and happy rainbow version of the Sweetness quilt pattern. It really is a sweet, bold quilt!  It's also easy to make with large pieces and is precut friendly.  As a Bonus, I'm also sharing the other four quilts I've made with the Dream fabric collection!

The Sweetness quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Sweetness Quilt Pattern Features

This is the perfect quilt pattern for you to just sit down and sew without a lot of fuss.  It's perfect for a gift quilt for anyone on your list who will surely love it and appreciate you for all of your effort.
  • Includes 6 sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King
  • Instructions include using 5" charm squares, 10" layer cake squares, FQs, and half-yards
  • Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Bright Happy Rainbow Fabrics

The fabric collection used in this quilt is Dream by Kristy Lea of Quilt Play for Riley Blake Designs.  The collection includes clouds, rainbows, and tone-on-tones in all colors of the rainbow; bright pinks, reds, oranges, yellows, greens, teals, blues, and purples.  One print is a clamshell rainbow print which is super fun.  You can easily see it in the image below.

The Dream fabric collection has been out for quite awhile and is hard to find.  Kristy Lea, the designer, has created a newer, very similar collection called Imagine.  You can find Imagine on Etsy right here.

Other Quilts Made with DREAM Fabrics

I have long loved the Dream fabric collection and have made several quilts out of it over the years. The Sweetness quilt is the fifth one I've made in the collection.  Below are the other four quilts in Dream by Kristy Lea for Riley Blake Designs.

You could easily substitute the Imagine fabric collection to replicate this super fun quilts.  You can find Imagine on Etsy right here.

Above is Hand Picked in the Baby size, made in July of 2022.  This pattern is 2.5" jelly roll strip friendly, includes all of the sizes, and is made with strip piecing for a fast finish.

Read about this quilt on the blog, and shop the Hand Picked pattern in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Above is a Baby size quilt in the Good Morning pattern in the Dream fabric collection on a gray background.  This pattern includes 5 sizes and two options for fabric selection - 5 colors to create an ombre effect - or scrappy which allows for the use of 2.5" jelly roll strips.  Both fabric options still allow strip piecing.  This quilt represents the scrappy version with strips cut from fat quarters.

Read more about this quilt on the blog, and shop the Good Morning quilt pattern in the shop.

Above is a Quilty Cabins Throw quilt in Dream fabrics, for a super sweet Rainbow Heart win!  This pattern is Fat Quarter friendly with the hearts pieced right into the blocks.  There is NO applique in this pattern.  Included are two layout options - traditional placement, and Offset which creates a wave down the quilt.  There are six quilt sizes included in the pattern.

Shop the Quilty Cabins quilt pattern in the shop, and read the blog post on this quilt right here.

Above is Jacks quilt made in Dream in the Baby size.  This pattern includes 6 sizes and is FQ and 1/4-yard friendly.

You can shop the Jacks quilt pattern right here and read about the quilt on the blog.

Heading Back to the Sweetness Quilt!

Includes 6 Quilt Sizes and Precut Friendly

You'll love that the size you want to make is included in the Sweetness pattern.  The six sizes are Baby, Lap, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  The Lap size measures 51" x 64" and requires (45) 10" squares, so this is a good fit for a layer cake with a few additional squares added from your stash.

You can choose to use 5" squares, 10" squares, or fat quarters.  Cutting instructions for all of these precuts are included in the pattern.

The Sweetness quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Longarm Machine Quilting

The quilting design used on this quilt is a combination of swirls and clouds.  Quilted on my Handi Quilter Amara with ProStitcher in Superior Omni Bright White thread.

I am unsure who made this quilt as it sat in my to-be-quilted box for a long time, and I didn't keep track.  It may have been made by Kare Ybarra or me.  🙃  It was quilted and bound by me this week in June, 2026.

Jacks Throw Quilt in Hello Darling by Bonnie and Camille

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing another Jacks quilt as a part of the Jacks quilt pattern launch.  Jacks is a modern farmhouse looking quilt design that was inspired by the game Jacks that I played as a kid.  The details are so fun and inspiring to work with!

With holidays around the corner, now might be the time to start planning on how to make use of your stash.  This design will not only brighten up your home, but also the faces of your loved ones when they receive a quilt made for them by you!

The Jacks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

The Jacks Quilt Pattern

This quilt pattern is available in 6 - YES you read this right - 6 sizes.  So choose a size that fits your interest!  This quilt is made with Fat Quarters, so it's easy to use up your stash.

  • Baby  -  3 FQs (recommend scraps)
  • Lap  -  4 FQs (recommend scraps)
  • Throw  -  7 FQs
  • Full  -  10 FQs
  • Queen  -  14 FQs
  • King  -  17 FQs
Jacks can also be made with Fat Eights - one FE will make one Jacks block.

The Jacks quilt pattern is written with a narrow border surrounding the blocks, but due to a cutting error, I had to leave the border off because I didn't have enough of the Aqua fabric.  Fortunately, the Throw size is large enough 63" x 78" that even with no border, it's still a nice Throw size quilt.

Modern Farmhouse Style Fabrics

This Jacks quilt is made in the Hello Darling fabric collection by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics.  This is an older fabric collection that I have been hoarding for just the right project!  The Accent fabric is Riley Blake Cloud, and the background fabric is Moda Bella Aqua.

The backing is Gingham Coral, a wide backing by Lori Holt, available right here in our shop.  This fabric is also used in the Binding.

The Jacks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Longarm Machine Quilting

For this quilt design, I used the Wave on Wave digital design in white thread on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher.  I cannot get enough of the details in this design.  It's so elegant and whimsical!  I could see this turned into a lovely modern day baby blanket for that special little bundle of joy in your life.

Jacks Throw Quilt in Emma's Dry Goods

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today's feature is a Jacks Throw Quilt in Emma's Dry Goods Fabric from Connecting Threads.  Includes 6 sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, Full, Queen, and King - so you'll be able to use this pattern multiple times, and as a bonus it's fat quarter friendly.

Jacks is a fun quilt design that was inspired by the game Jacks, a popular game we played as kids.  The details and use of the intricate design is so stunning and oh so fun to work with!

You may have holidays on the mind right now and may be pondering what to get your loved ones.  I think homemade gifts speak the most, so you should consider making that special someone of yours their very own personalized quilt by you.  They'll love it and will appreciate the thought and care that went into their gift!

The Jacks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

6 Sizes In All!

This quilt pattern includes instructions for in 6 different sizes, so pick a size that's right for you!  A pattern like this could make a darling gift for any loved one.  Made with Fat Quarters, so take out that stash of yours and get busy!
  • Baby  -  3 FQs (recommend scraps)
  • Lap  -  4 FQs (recommend scraps)
  • Throw  -  7 FQs
  • Full  -  10 FQs
  • Queen  -  14 FQs
  • King  -  17 FQs
I recently discovered that Jacks can also be made with Fat Eighths, though this precut option isn't included in the instructions.  One FE will make one Jacks block.

I find that black fabric is difficult to photograph and capture the depth of the black.  It often looks washed out.  This quilt is solid black, and the accent fabric in the Jacks blocks is a subtle purple-on-black print from the Emma's Dry Goods collection.

Farmhouse Country Fabrics

Jacks is made in the Emma's Dry Goods fabric collection from Connecting Threads.  This collection uses colors that compliment the quilt that would make the perfect addition for today's modern decorating.

The background is solid black and the accent is the purple-on-black  print from the Emma's Dry Goods collection.  Binding is a vivid dark purple print from the collection as well.

The Emma's Dry Good Collection is available here.

Longarm Machine Quilting

The quilting design is Ikat-4 by Patricia Ritter from Urban Elementz in black thread that was done using my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher. I love seeing how this design stitches out because it adds such depth and movement to the quilt. You can expect to see this longarm quilting design again in another future design!

The Jacks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Jacks Wall Hanging Quilt in Hudson

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

If you are someone who is looking for a quilt pattern that would create the most darling baby blanket, then you've come to the right place!  Meet Jacks!  The Baby size makes the perfect Wall Hanging, which is what I intend to use this quilt for with the attached rod pocket on the back.

The background is Kona Navy, paired with select prints from the Hudson fabric collection by Whistler Studios for Windham Fabrics and a subtle navy print for the accent fabric.  The quilt pattern includes 6 sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, Full, Queen, and King.  Turn this quilt pattern into your very own for that special loved one in your family.

The Jacks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts Shop.

The Jacks quilt pattern

The name Jacks is inspired by the game Jacks that we played as kids.  The game brings back so many fun memories, which is why I personally loved working with this quilt.

You too can create beautiful memories with the Jacks quilt pattern.  This pattern would make a charming gift that your family will love because it was specially made by you!  💖

The Jacks quilt pattern is written for fat quarters or 1/4-yard cuts, and I've recently discovered that fat eighths work also.

This quilt pattern includes so many sizes - only the Twin size didn't work out mathematically.

Choose From 6 Sizes

I love this quilt pattern so much that I am giving you 6 different sizes you can choose from!  The quilt displayed in the pictures is in baby, which I think would make such a wonderful addition to your own little bundle of joy, and is the perfect size for a wall hanging or table topper.  The quilt sizes and print requirements are listed below (the same for FQs and 1/4-yard cuts):

  • Baby  3 FQs
  • Lap  4 FQs
  • Throw  7 FQs
  • Full  10 FQs
  • Queen  14 FQs
  • King  17 FQs
You can also use Fat Eighths with this quilt pattern - which I didn't realize when I wrote it.  Actually FEs have never been on my radar to use because I have never bought a bundle in my entire life, but in making the Jacks quilt in a bundle of Dream Rainbow fabrics and wanting each block to be a different color, I realized that half of a FQ works perfectly!  You would need one fat eighth for each block in the quilt (refer to the pattern for the number of blocks required for each size).

I will now be considering Fat Eighths as an option to use in future quilt patterns.  :)

Beautiful Fabrics

This quilt is made with a few of the navy, pink and gray prints from the Hudson fabric collection by Whistler Studios for Windham Fabrics.  I love the itty bitty florals!  The pattern is written for fat quarters which make three Jacks blocks each, but fat eighths work with a little bit more fabric waste as they make only one block apiece.  This is a great way to get more variety in the Jacks blocks, however, which is exactly what I was after in this wall hanging.

The backing used on this particular pattern is a gray piano print, available right here in our shop.

I am also happy to share that attached to this quilt is a hanging rod pocket made for easy hanging.  This quilt design could make a beautiful addition to your bed or for displaying on your wall for everyone to see!

The Jacks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts Shop.

Longarm Machine Quilting

The quilting design in this piece is Flower Spray by Patricia Ritter in navy thread stitched out on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher.  The design is sized very small as a focal point on the quilt since it will be used as a wall hanging.

I have to tell you how much I love the added detail in this quilt design.  The floral pattern just looks so elegant and whimsical.  I am also very pleased with how the musical notes came out on the other side.  This is just such a fun looking quilt that would make such a lovely gift for someone!  I can't help but smile when I look at it.  : )

This navy fabric was hard to capture at its true color.  The accent fabric and the background are subtly different in person and the difference isn't as striking as shown in some of these images.

The Jacks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts Shop.

I hope you all are staying warm out there!  Kick back, put your feet up, and get ready because I have another quilt pattern that I am delighted to share with you today.  Meet the Jacks Baby Quilt in Dream.

The Jacks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Meet The Jacks Quilt

Jacks is a fun quilt design that is reminiscent of the game Jacks that I used to play as a kid.

If you have been worrying about what to do for the holidays coming up, try your hand at the Jacks quilt in Dream!  You will find that working with the Jacks quilt pattern is a dream!

This rainbow baby version in the Baby size is made with 9 different prints cut from Fat Eighths, and the accent fabric is a white rainbow print on white, with a solid white as the background fabric for the quilt top.  The blocks go together quickly, add some sashing, and the quilt top is finished - easy peasy!

The Jacks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

All the Quilt Sizes!

This beautiful pattern comes in 6 sizes - WOW, so many sizes!!

  • Baby
  • Lap
  • Throw
  • Twin
  • Queen
  • King

Bright Rainbow Fabrics

Jacks is made in Dream fabrics created by Riley Blake Designs.  This pattern displays a solid white background and a white rainbow print for accent.  Backing and binding are a green print from the Dream collection as well.  This pattern is Fat Quarter and 1/4-yard cut friendly.

Fat Eighths can also be used and will yield one block per FE, compared to three blocks per Fat Quarter.

Longarm Machine Quilting

The quilting design is Hearts in white thread that was done on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher.  I just love how this one stiches out so much that you will definitely be seeing this longarm quilting design again!  : )

Jacks Throw Quilt in Sanctuary + Quilt Kits Available!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

I am so excited to share yet ANOTHER quilt pattern with you today!  Meet the Jacks Throw in Sanctuary fabric provided by Clothworks.  Available in 6 sizes that you get to choose from - Baby, Lap, Throw, Full, Queen, and King - so you'll use this pattern multiple times.

Jacks is a fun quilt design that is reminiscent of the game Jacks that we played as kids.  I love the use of the intricate design displayed in this pattern.  The details are just so fun to work with!

With holidays being right around the corner, it's time to start thinking about gift ideas for friends and family.  Jacks would make a darling gift for anyone.  Nothing says special like a gift that has been given time and thought on like a quilt like this.

The Jacks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

So Many Sizes!

This quilt pattern includes 6 sizes that you can choose from, so there is a size that's perfect for whomever you're making a quilt for.  Made with Fat Quarters, it's easy to use your stash.
  • Baby  -  3 FQs (recommend scraps)
  • Lap   -  4 FQs (recommend scraps)
  • Throw  -  7 FQs
  • Full   -  10 FQs
  • Queen  -  14 FQs
  • King  -  17 FQs
Don't you just love having so many options to choose from?  :)

Use Fat Eighths!

Since writing this quilt pattern last year and sewing it up again with my stash recently, I have realized that Fat Eighths will also work in this pattern.  There is a bit more fabric waste using FEs though, as they make just one block, and a Fat Quarter makes three blocks.  Just know that this is an option should have have a Fat Eighth bundle calling your name to be used in this design.  The benefit of Fat Eighths is that every block would be a different fabric, so that's a win-win!

The Jacks quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Modern Neutral Fabrics

Jacks is made in the Sanctuary fabric collection by Clothworks.  This collection is the perfect blend of neutral fabrics that are perfect for today's modern decorating, and also work perfectly for masculine quilts.

The backing and binding fabric is a maze print from Sanctuary collection and is available in our shop here.

This quilt design also looking amazing in Amish solids with a red accent, or country colors with a navy background and lighter navy accent, or a rainbow of Jacks blocks on a white background with a light accent.

Longarm Machine Quilting

The quilting design is Ikat-4 by Patricia Ritter from Urban Elementz in black thread, done on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher.  This is a new-to-me design, and I love how it stitches out, adding depth and movement to the quilt.  You will definitely be seeing this longarm quilting design again.

Quilt Kits

Yay, we have curated Throw size quilt kits in Sanctuary fabrics!  Sometimes the hardest part about making a design you love is choosing the right fabrics, and we've done the hard work for you.  The quilt kits include all of the fabrics to make the quilt top and binding, as well as the quilt pattern.  The binding is the same print as the Accent fabric.  We also have coordinating Backing available separately.
