Journey Throw Quilt in Star Spangled Beauty!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

I am very pleased to share another finished Journey quilt with you!  Journey is a modern quilt pattern that allows your favorite prints to shine!  It is the perfect pattern for you to sit back and quilt your troubles away with.

The Journey quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop here.

Bright, Beautiful, and Bold Fabric

This Journey quilt was made using the Star Spangled Beauty fabric collection by Maywood Studio.  This is a stunning collection of florals, stars, tone-on-tones, ditties, and checks in an array of blues, reds, and creamy white.  The fabric for this quilt was provided for me by Maywood Studio, and they are featuring the fabric collection in the Journey quilt pattern.

I love creating quilts that work well for Quilt of Valor - a program that is dedicated to making quilts for veterans.  If you know someone who has served in the military that you would like to make a quilt for, Journey could be just the pattern you're looking for!

The Sixth Journey Quilt!

This is the sixth quilt sample I made in Journey, each one in its own unique fabric.  I have so many wonderful fabrics to choose from that work beautifully with this pattern, it's hard to narrow them down.  So, as you can probably imagine, this design has been keeping me busy!

Here are the links to three of the Journey quilts - the other two haven't been blogged yet!

9 Sizes Available

As you know, I love to spoil you with different size options so you don't have the added stress of running out of material.  The Journey quilt pattern includes 9 sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, Large Throw, Twin, Full, Square Queen, Rectangular Queen, and King.  The math is already done for you, making the cutting and piecing process easier.  This finished quilt was made in the Throw size, which measures approximately 54" x 72".

Journey on!

Journey is the second official quilt pattern in our Donation Quilt Series, which features quick and easy designs with large blocks and easy piecing, so you can make more quilts to donate to those in need.

The Journey design uses an efficient piecing method to help you eliminate fabric waste.  The design is also Fat Quarter and 1/4-yard friendly, so you'll be able to finish your quilt in no time!

The Journey quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop here.

Longarm Machine Quilting

The quilting design I used for this quilt is Stars and Stripes 2 by Celine Spader in Superior Omni Natural White thread.  This was all done on my HandiQuilter Amara with ProStitcher.

The Journey quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop here.

Quilt Kit Available

There are Journey quilt kits available in the shop in several fabric collections, one of them being a Throw size in Star Spangled Beauty fabric.  Check out all of our quilt kits right here.

I am very pleased to share our latest quilt design with you!  Meet Journey, a modern quilt design that is perfect for allowing your favorite prints to shine!  This is the perfect pattern for you to sit back and quilt your troubles away with.

The Journey quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop here.

Such Lovely Fabrics

This unique and inspiring quilt was made using the Faraway Florals fabric collection.  I just love using bright floral designs in my quilts because they make the finished quilt look elegant and pop at the same time!  This quilt turned out so lovely, that I knew I couldn't just stop at one!  There are four more finished Journey quilts all using their own unique fabrics!

The background fabric is Kona Cotton Julep, the Kona Cotton Color of the Year for 2023.  It is a super sweet mint color, but it sure is hard to rightly represent it in photographs!  We sell Kona Julep in our shop right here.

The Faraway Florals Fabric is available right here.

Journey on!

Journey is the second official quilt pattern I created for the Donation Quilt Series that showcases quilt designs that use fewer fabrics with large blocks and allow for quick and easy piecing so that you can make many more donation quilts at a faster rate.

The Journey design uses an efficient piecing method to help you eliminate fabric waste.  The design is also Fat Quarter and 1/4-yard friendly, so you'll be able to finish your quilt in no time!

The Journey quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop here.

9 Sizes Available

As you know, I love to spoil you with different size options to choose from.  The Journey quilt pattern includes a total of 9 sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, Large Throw, Twin, Full, Square Queen, Rectangular Queen, and King.  The math is already done for you, making the cutting and piecing process much easier.  This finished quilt was made in the Throw size, which measures approximately 54" x 72".

This quilt design would also look great turned on its side with the stripes running horizontally.

Longarm Machine Quilting

This quilt was made by Kare Ybarra and quilted and bound by me.  The quilting was done on my HandiQuilter Amara with ProStitcher in seafoam thread.  Sorry, I'll have to look that up later!

This pattern is Fat Quarter friendly and includes 9 sizes.

Get the Journey quilt pattern in the Busy Hands Quilts shop here.

Beautiful, Bold Fabrics

This striking quilt was made using a beautiful floral fabric collection called Mini Fab by Boundless.  This is the perfect fabric to use for a retro-themed quilt.  This quilt uses a multitude of colors like blues, pinks, yellows, and oranges to make the quilt stand out.  I am just in awe of how it turned out.  It is such a happy modern quilt!

This quilt pattern is so quick and easy and perfect for so many color combinations that I could not stop making quilt samples!  I have five Journey quilts that I will be showing you over the next few days.

Part of the Donation Quilt Series

Journey is the second official quilt pattern in the Donation Quilt Series, which emphasizes quilt designs that use fewer fabrics with large blocks and quick and easy piecing so you can make more donation quilts quickly!

The Journey design uses an efficient piecing method to eliminate fabric waste.  The design is also Fat Quarter and 1/4-yard friendly, so you'll finish making this quilt in a stitch!

This quilt was made in the Lap size, which measures approximately 48"x 60".  It is the perfect quilt for a toddler bed or small person snuggle quilt.

Get the Journey quilt pattern in the Busy Hands Quilts shop here.

9 Sizes Included

I always love spoiling you with different size options to create a quilt in one of my designs, and I am happy to do all the math for you!  This pattern includes 9 - yes 9 size options including - Baby, Lap, Throw, Large Throw, Twin, Full, Square Queen, Rectangular Queen, and King.

Quilts make awesome tablecloths as long as you spray stains and wash them up quickly and don't let them set.  They are pretty hard to get out if left in for awhile, and absolutely no mustard or ketchup!

Longarm Machine Quilting

This quilt top was sewn and quilted and bound by me.  The quilting was done on my HandiQuilter Amara with ProStitcher.  The design is a daisy design in white thread to echo the main floral print.  I used white thread to blend in with this design.

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Come escape into a world of serenity with the Journey quilt pattern!  Journey is our newest quilt design that is perfect for letting your favorite prints shine!  This is the perfect pattern for you to just sit back, relax, and quilt your troubles away.

Journey is Fat Quarter friendly and includes 9 sizes!  You'll love how quick and easy it really is.

This version of Journey places the blues and reds in alternating columns to create uniformity in the quilt.  Resembling waving flags, this color scheme is perfect for the Quilts of Valor program.

The Journey quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop here.

Beautiful Red, White, and Blue Fabrics!

This stunning quilt was made using a beautiful fabric collection called Hudson using deep red, white, and blue colors.  This design would make an excellent quilt for the Quilt of Valor program, a program that makes quilts for veterans.  I am so pleased with how this quilt turned out!  Using bold and beautiful fabrics like this piece will surely make heads turn.

Let us take you on a Journey!

Journey is the second quilt pattern in the Donation Quilt Series that showcases quilt designs that use less fabrics with large blocks and allow quick and easy piecing so that you can make many more donation quilts at a much faster rate.

The Journey design uses an efficient piecing method to help eliminate fabric waste.  The design is also Fat Quarter and 1/4-yard friendly, so you'll be able to finish your quilt in a snap with fabrics already in your stash!

The Journey quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop here.

Includes 9 Sizes

I always love an opportunity to spoil you with all the different size options for you to work with!  The Journey quilt pattern includes 9 sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, Large Throw, Twin, Full, Square Queen, Rectangular Queen, and King.  Wow!  The math is already done for you, making the cutting and piecing a faster process.  This finished quilt was made in the Throw size, which measures approximately 54" x 72" for reference.

Longarm Machine Quilting

This quilt top was made by Kare Ybarra and quilted and bound by me.  The quilting was done on my HandiQuilter Amara with ProStitcher.  The design is a star and loop design in white thread.  I chose this design to keep with the Quilt of Valor theme.

The Journey quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop here.

This pattern is not suitable for directional prints unless you know how to make HSTs so the prints face the same direction.  I made a quilt sample with many directional prints and one or two HSTs end up upside down, even with proper piecing of the directional prints, simply because of the number of directional prints I had.  I'm not really picky about prints upside down in general because it's freeing to not be concerned about that, but sideways prints?  Not so much.  This is a personal preference though!

The Journey quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop here.
