Connected Throw Quilt - In Sunshine Terrace!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing with you a Connected Throw quilt I made with the quilt kit from Connecting Threads.  This is a quick and easy quilt pattern.

Fabric Selection

The fabrics are from the Sunshine Terrace fabric collection at Connecting Threads.  It's a beautiful collection of blues and yellows in varying hues that add a lot of depth to the quilt pattern.  Connected would look very different if the fabrics in each colorway didn't have variations in hue.

Binding Love!

When choosing fabric placement for quilt kits I curate for Connecting Threads, if there is a striped fabric in the collection, I use it for the binding.  It frames the quilt nicely with a pop.  If a stripe isn't available, the binding is a bold color that completes the quilt design.

And the background fabric!  Did you notice it's not plain white?!?  Nope, it's a white with tiny metallic gold dots.  🌝  Sweetness indeed!

Longarm Quilting Design

Connected is quilted on my Handi Quilter Fusion with ProStitcher in a design called Vibrance in natural white thread.  It seems to give an illusion of water.  💦

Strip Pieced

Connected is entirely strip pieced; no sewing together individual squares here!  Sew strips together to make strips sets following the fabric placement given in the pattern, sub-cut segments, then sew the segments together to make blocks.  Quick and easy!

Strip piecing is included in all of my quilt patterns where it's practical.  Life is about making more quilts, so let's make them more quickly!  ⏳⏰

The Connected quilt kit is available at Connecting Threads.  The kits have been restocked once already and are selling very quickly and will likely not be restocked again.

Jelly Roll, Fat Quarters, and 1/4-yard Cuts

Connected can be made with 2-1/2" jelly roll strips, fat quarters, and 1/4-yard cuts - all three options are included in the pattern.

All the Sizes!

The Connected quilt pattern includes all the sizes - 6 - Baby, Lap, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  I'm all about spoilin' you and creating patterns with real value, just for you. 💗

Connected - A New Quilt Pattern in 6 Sizes!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Connected is a design that just happened on the computer when I was playing around with blocks.

Do you think it's strip pieced? ...

Of course it is!  I love strip pieced quilts and write my patterns with strip piecing when ever possible.  This quilt is no exception.

Fabric selection tips

Choosing fabrics for a quilt pattern couldn't be easier than for Connected.  Here are some guidelines:
  • Colors on opposite sides of the color wheel.  This is the principle behind my choice of orange and navy.  In this quilt the orange is considered the "lighter" fabric and the navy is considered the "darker" fabric in the instructions.
  • A single color with gray or black used as the "darker" fabric.
  • Your two favorite colors - easy peasy!
  • Your favorite sports team colors - this quilt could be the Denver Broncos (though that wasn't my intention!)
  • Ask your favorite quilt helper - for me that's my daughter, and her opinion has never failed me yet.
  • Use a rainbow of scraps as the "lighter" fabrics and a dark gray or black as the "darker" fabrics.
  • A rainbow from the top of the quilt to the bottom by making a few strip sets in each color of the rainbow.  You'd have to figure out how many to make because the pattern doesn't include this.
You can see that there are many possibilities for fabric choices using the Connected quilt pattern, and no matter which you choose, it will be hard to "go wrong!"

Connected is quilted using Belly Bop, a rounded square design that works well for modern quilts.
