Sweetness Throw Quilt in Dream - a bright and happy rainbow quilt!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing a bright and happy rainbow version of the Sweetness quilt pattern. It really is a sweet, bold quilt!  It's also easy to make with large pieces and is precut friendly.  As a Bonus, I'm also sharing the other four quilts I've made with the Dream fabric collection!

The Sweetness quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Sweetness Quilt Pattern Features

This is the perfect quilt pattern for you to just sit down and sew without a lot of fuss.  It's perfect for a gift quilt for anyone on your list who will surely love it and appreciate you for all of your effort.
  • Includes 6 sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King
  • Instructions include using 5" charm squares, 10" layer cake squares, FQs, and half-yards
  • Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Bright Happy Rainbow Fabrics

The fabric collection used in this quilt is Dream by Kristy Lea of Quilt Play for Riley Blake Designs.  The collection includes clouds, rainbows, and tone-on-tones in all colors of the rainbow; bright pinks, reds, oranges, yellows, greens, teals, blues, and purples.  One print is a clamshell rainbow print which is super fun.  You can easily see it in the image below.

The Dream fabric collection has been out for quite awhile and is hard to find.  Kristy Lea, the designer, has created a newer, very similar collection called Imagine.  You can find Imagine on Etsy right here.

Other Quilts Made with DREAM Fabrics

I have long loved the Dream fabric collection and have made several quilts out of it over the years. The Sweetness quilt is the fifth one I've made in the collection.  Below are the other four quilts in Dream by Kristy Lea for Riley Blake Designs.

You could easily substitute the Imagine fabric collection to replicate this super fun quilts.  You can find Imagine on Etsy right here.

Above is Hand Picked in the Baby size, made in July of 2022.  This pattern is 2.5" jelly roll strip friendly, includes all of the sizes, and is made with strip piecing for a fast finish.

Read about this quilt on the blog, and shop the Hand Picked pattern in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Above is a Baby size quilt in the Good Morning pattern in the Dream fabric collection on a gray background.  This pattern includes 5 sizes and two options for fabric selection - 5 colors to create an ombre effect - or scrappy which allows for the use of 2.5" jelly roll strips.  Both fabric options still allow strip piecing.  This quilt represents the scrappy version with strips cut from fat quarters.

Read more about this quilt on the blog, and shop the Good Morning quilt pattern in the shop.

Above is a Quilty Cabins Throw quilt in Dream fabrics, for a super sweet Rainbow Heart win!  This pattern is Fat Quarter friendly with the hearts pieced right into the blocks.  There is NO applique in this pattern.  Included are two layout options - traditional placement, and Offset which creates a wave down the quilt.  There are six quilt sizes included in the pattern.

Shop the Quilty Cabins quilt pattern in the shop, and read the blog post on this quilt right here.

Above is Jacks quilt made in Dream in the Baby size.  This pattern includes 6 sizes and is FQ and 1/4-yard friendly.

You can shop the Jacks quilt pattern right here and read about the quilt on the blog.

Heading Back to the Sweetness Quilt!

Includes 6 Quilt Sizes and Precut Friendly

You'll love that the size you want to make is included in the Sweetness pattern.  The six sizes are Baby, Lap, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  The Lap size measures 51" x 64" and requires (45) 10" squares, so this is a good fit for a layer cake with a few additional squares added from your stash.

You can choose to use 5" squares, 10" squares, or fat quarters.  Cutting instructions for all of these precuts are included in the pattern.

The Sweetness quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Longarm Machine Quilting

The quilting design used on this quilt is a combination of swirls and clouds.  Quilted on my Handi Quilter Amara with ProStitcher in Superior Omni Bright White thread.

I am unsure who made this quilt as it sat in my to-be-quilted box for a long time, and I didn't keep track.  It may have been made by Kare Ybarra or me.  🙃  It was quilted and bound by me this week in June, 2026.

The Good Morning Throw Quilt in Dewdrop

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing a Good Morning in the neutral grays and black from the Dewdrop collection!  This quilt is quick and easy to make using strip piecing, with beautiful results.  This version uses five prints plus a background fabric.  This is the Throw size quilt, and the pattern includes all of the sizes, so you don't have to do any math.

The Good Morning quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

The Good Morning quilt pattern

This is a quick and easy modern quilt pattern that is perfect for your family and friends who would only appreciate a modern quilt.  I think we all have someone like that in our family!  The simplicity of the design mixed with modern prints blend perfectly into the perfect gift idea for your modern peeps.

Good Morning is easy peasy with strip piecing.  Strip piecing means you won't be piecing together any individual squares, and the blocks go together quickly.

Dewdrop Fabric Collection

This quilt is made with the grays and black fabrics in the Dewdrop fabric collection by Windham Fabrics.  All of the fabrics in this collection have small flecks of metallic gold in them for that extra sparkle.  The fabrics run across the entire rainbow in bold, beautiful colors and a range of neutrals.

The quilt in the background of the picture above is the Fire version of the Good Morning quilt pattern.  It's also made with Dewdrop fabrics, selecting the reds, oranges, and yellows from the collection, on a bold background of solid black.

All the Quilt Sizes

The quilt pattern includes 5 sizes - Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  I love doing the math, so I do it all for you, though you do have to count pieces.  :)  This quilt is the Throw size, and it is a generous Throw, covering the entire top of this Queen-sized bed.

Longarm Machine Quilting

The quilting design on this Good Morning quilt is Diagonal Bias Plaid in white thread, completed on my Handi Quilter Fusion with ProStitcher.  It's the perfect quilting to compliment a modern quilt.

Good Morning Quilt Pattern - A Throw Quilt in Sunrise!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing a Sunrise version of the Good Morning quilt pattern!  This quilt was finished in October of last year and somehow didn't get posted on the blog at that time.  Oh no!!

Good Morning is one of many strip pieced quilt patterns in the Busy Hands Quilts pattern collection.  In this design, the colors cascade down the quilt top from corner to corner.

This fun quilt is fast to sew together and is stash friendly.  Pull five fabrics that meld together in some way, whether from the same colorway, corresponding colors, or even a rainbow; and then add a background accent fabric, and you're ready!  There really are no limits to the fabrics you can use.

The Good Morning quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Good Morning Quilt Pattern

After being inspired by Deanna's fire version of Waterfall II (click here to check it out), I've looked for other patterns that the fire or sunrise/sunset theme, would work in, and the Good Morning quilt pattern is perfect for this theme.

This is the quilt that was the inspiration for the quilt pattern being named Good Morning.  Seeing the sun peeking over the morning horizon in a beautiful blending of colors, is a good morning indeed.

Strip piecing and no seams to nest make this a fast and easy pattern to make.

All the Quilt Sizes

The Good Morning quilt pattern includes lots of quilt sizes in the instructions.

  • Baby quilt
  • Throw quilt
  • Twin bed quilt
  • Queen bed quilt
  • King bed quilt

Good Morning Fabric Requirements

Longarm Quilting

In keeping with the theme of the quilt, the quilting design looks like the flames of a fire.  It adds wonderful texture and depth to the quilt.  The digital quilting design is Cultivar, done on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro-Stitcher in black thread.

The Good Morning quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Scrap- and Precut-Friendly Quilt Pattern

Good Morning is a great pattern for using your scraps, not just five fabrics.  The pattern includes instructions to use scraps or precut strips instead of only five fabrics.  This Americana quilt right here is an example of using scraps instead of a planned 5-fabric layout.  It made a good dent in my red and blue scrap bins.

Dewdrop Fabrics

This quilt is made with Dewdrop by Windham Fabrics.  Each fabric includes several hues of a single colorway with gold metallic flecks, and some of the fabrics include a blending of several colorways, such as the orange, yellow and pink fabric shown here.

The background fabric is solid black, the binding is a red from the Dewdrop collection, and the backing is Dry Brush wide back in black.

The Good Morning quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

The Good Morning Quilt Pattern

This pattern is quick and easy with strip piecing.  You'll love how fast it goes together with no seams to match in the blocks.

Good Morning includes 5 sizes - Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.

Were you wondering how this pattern was named Good Morning?  The original quilt design was in sunrise colors of reds, oranges, and yellows and thus was named Good Morning.  Sometimes naming quilts is the hardest part of the process!  :)

This pattern is also fantastic in the American colors of red, white and blue and mirrors a waving flag.

You can see both the sunrise version and the Americana version right here, along with many other mockups of this design.

Good Morning Throw Quilt - the Americana One!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing another look at Good Morning in Americana!  This is a quick and easy quilt pattern that includes all the sizes, is strip pieced, and precut friendly!  Yay!

If you're looking for a quick and easy quilt pattern with visual pop, this is it!  The Americana version looks like a flag waving in the wind.

The Good Morning quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Quick - Easy - Fun!

The Good Morning quilt pattern is fun and quick to make.  Ask me how I know!  Yep, I ended up making four of them because they are so easy, and I kept thinking of color schemes that would look great.  I finally had to tell myself to STOP, because I could have just kept right on dreaming and scheming and making.  Seriously!

You know how much I love strip piecing while quilting; it speeds up the process so much.  This quilt pattern includes strip piecing.  There aren't any seams to match either - another bonus to help make the quilt go together so quickly.

This is a great newbie beginner quilt because there aren't any seams to match.  If you have a quilt or two under your belt, this would be a great pattern to try next.

Precuts or Yardage Options

The Good Morning quilt pattern includes two fabric options - jelly roll strips for a scrappy look, as this quilt is; or yardage of five fabrics.

The Good Morning quilt pattern also looks great as an ombre design, with five hues in a single colorway.  I have one of those to show you in a different post.

The five fabrics don't have to be the same colorway either.  Pink, peach, yellow with a pop of apple green look great mocked up together.  A rainbow design would also be simple to make.

Red, White and Blue!

This Americana version is made from scraps leftover from my Star Spangled quilt, check it out right here.  Lots of navy and red prints with white on them, on a Kona Nautical background, representing many designers and fabric companies.  Scrappy indeed!

A bundle of these fabrics is available on Etsy right here.

The backing is an indigo dot fabric by Riley Blake, and the binding is Kona Solids Nautical.

Longarm Quilting

The waving flag and stars longarm quilting design is Americana 2018, completed on my HandiQuilter Fusion with Pro-Stitcher in navy thread.
