A Lovely Year of Finishes 2015 {April Goal}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

My April goal for ALYoF 2015 is a lap size HST quilt in Simply Style.  The HSTs are made and ready to assemble.  I'm hoping there is coordinating backing in the stash.  I passed some up on a super sale thinking I've already got one of the prints.

March 2015 Goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

February's goal is rolling over and becoming March's goal.  February was a short month and all, ya know!  My Grand Illusion Mystery quilt is still not finished but will surely be finished in March!
Every fabric in this quilt has dots or circles.  The inner blocks are pieced together, and the green checkered sashings and aqua cornerstones are pieced and ready to go to complete the quilt top, whoops, then the border blocks must be sewn together and added to the quilt.  I forgot all about the borders, so I'm not as close to done as I thought! :{  Then comes quilting and binding.  The backing is a bright turquoise with medium white dots.

It's wild, it's crazy, it's for my daughter ... 'nuf said!

My February Goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes 2015

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

My proposed February finish is my Grand Illusion Mystery quilt, a mystery quilt along with Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville.  I've laid out four blocks on my design wall for a picture.  I have begun assembling the blocks and plan to finish the quilt by the end of February, hopefully sooner!

This bold and lovely flimsy {I learned a new word from the Stashbusters Yahoo Group!} will be a queen size quilt.  My daughter has claimed it as her own and wants it in her room!  It matches her blue and green walls perfectly.  Ka-Ching!!

Simply Happy Lap Quilt {Finished!}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

This quilt is one of my Quarter 1 Goals for the 2015 Finish Along.  HERE is my original post.

This Simply Happy quilt is finished!
The quilting is in organic wavy lines, which Mrs.Singer neatly completed after I figured out she can only stitch forward, which is right to left for her.  This quilt was begun in September, quilted in November, quilting ripped and completed in January!  I ripped while listening to A Patriot's History of the United States with my son for US History class.
The backing is a green from the Simply Style line and a large polka dot on dark gray.
I love how the organic wavy quilting shows in this picture.  This is the first time I've used the word "organic" regarding my quilting!  This picture shows a lot of eggplant which overall is not an accurate picture.
This picture shows more of a balance of what's in the quilt but not the mustard - a little of aqua, navy, gray, green, eggplant, rose, and white.
I also made a coordinating pillow sham out of the leftover blocks!  It's a standard-size pillow sham, perfect for a sofa or bed.
Quilt Stats:
  • Pattern:  Double Slice Layer Cake by Missouri Star Quilt Co.
  • Size:  51" x 64"
  • Fabric:  Simply Style by V and Co for Moda with Kona Slate
  • Batting:  Cotton
  • Backing:  A green coordinate from Simply Style with a large white polka dot on gray.
  • Quilting:  Organic wavy lines in gray thread.
  • Binding:  An aqua coordinate from Simply Style with Kona Slate.
Pillow Sham Stats:
  • Size:  20" x 26" standard pillow size
  • Backing:  A green coordinate from Simply Style, envelope opening.

This quilt and sham are for sale in my Etsy shop!

This is my January finish for the 2015 Lovely Year of Finishes hosted by Sew Bittersweet Designs, so I'm linking up there!  I linked up this post at the beginning of January.

2015 A Lovely Year of Finishes {My January Goal}

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

This year I plan to follow along with 2015 A Lovely Year of Finishes hosted by Sew BitterSweet Designs and Fiber of All Sorts.

My January goal is to complete this Simply Style Lap Quilt.  I have long-arm quilted it using semi-wavy lines side to side.  Mrs.Singer had trouble when I first began quilting, so those rows need taken out and re-stitched, and then the quilt needs bound.  This was the first time I had done semi-wavy lines rather than an allover meander, and it took me a few rows to realize why she was hiccuping so much.  GRRR!  I finally realized she hiccuped when I had her stitch what she considers backwards, which is left to right.  Once I started stitching only from right to left, she had no problems at all.  I'll be picking stitches, re-quilting and binding this beauty by the end of January!

This quilt was first mentioned on my blog here
