Modern Prism Quilted Wall Hanging

Ah, the Modern Prism quilt never fails to delight with its bright, planned simplicity.

The fabric is Michael Miller Cotton Couture, and I love the hand of this fabric.  It is so soft and smooth and frays very little, if at all.  It's such a pleasure to work with such high quality fabric! 

I had a Modern Prism quilt kit in my stash and knew that I would never make it without a deadline because I am always so busy with more pressing projects.  I had a request earlier this year for a small version of the quilt, 32" square, so I pulled out the kit and made that one.  I did the math and figured I could get two quilts out of the quilt kit - the 30" square one and one approximately 47" square, and I cut the squares for both sizes at the same time.  I listed the larger one as a made-to-order quilt in my shop, and when a made-to-order quilt sells, that project quickly makes its way up on the to-do list!  With the squares already cut, this quilt went together fairly quickly.

Sunrise Over the Horizon Lap Quilt | Finished or Not Friday Linky Party!

Another Finish from 2018 is a Sunrise Over the Horizon lap quilt!

This is the second Sunrise Over the Horizon quilt I've made, and I will be making a queen size as a custom order in the next few weeks.  It will have Kona Cerise {a beautiful purply/pinky solid!} instead of the gray, along with two matching pillow shams.  I typically do not make custom quilts anymore, but every once in awhile, my NO button malfunctions and I can't resist a request to make a fantastic quilt such as this!

Triangle Table Runner Quilts | Finished or Not Friday Linky Party!

My Finish is two triangle table runners!  I'm still featuring finishes from last year's 70 quilts.  There just aren't enough Fridays to show them all in one year without doubling some up.  It's a good thing I took the month of December off from quilting and won't have any fresh finishes for a few weeks!

The quilts are quilted with different designs; one is a flame design, the other is diagonal plaid bias.

Fat Quarter Cubes Lap Quilt | Finished or Not Linky Party!

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My Finish is a lap size Fat Quarter Cubes quilt - a Fat Quarter Shop Shortcut Quilt - in modern fabrics by various Free Spirit designers!

The backing is a zipper made from the leftover pieces from the front.  To see the entire backing, zip on over to my quilt shop for a full reveal.

The Fat Quarter Cubes pattern is free {!} and is perfect for a bundle of fat quarters.  Large prints work well, too, because the pieces aren't cut overly small.

You can see the previous Fat Quarter Cubes quilt I made over in this post.  This time I left off the sashing, and it made a terrific lap size.

Simply Happy Lap Quilt {Finished!}

This quilt is one of my Quarter 1 Goals for the 2015 Finish Along.  HERE is my original post.

This Simply Happy quilt is finished!  

The quilting is in organic wavy lines, which Mrs.Singer neatly completed after I figured out she can only stitch forward, which is right to left for her.  This quilt was begun in September, quilted in November, quilting ripped and completed in January!  I ripped while listening to A Patriot's History of the United States with my son for US History class.

The backing is a green from the Simply Style line and a large polka dot on dark gray.

I love how the organic wavy quilting shows in this picture.  This is the first time I've used the word "organic" regarding my quilting!  This picture shows a lot of eggplant which overall is not an accurate picture.

This picture shows more of a balance of what's in the quilt but not the mustard - a little of aqua, navy, gray, green, eggplant, rose, and white.

I also made a coordinating pillow sham out of the leftover blocks!  It's a standard-size pillow sham, perfect for a sofa or bed.

• Fabric:  Simply Style by V and Co for Moda with Kona Slate
• Batting:  Cotton

• Binding:  An aqua coordinate from Simply Style with Kona Slate.

Pillow Sham Stats:

• Size:  20" x 26" standard pillow size
• Backing:  A green coordinate from Simply Style, envelope opening.

Gray Matters Full Size Quilt - A Graduation Gift for My Niece

I've finally completed the graduation quilt for my niece.  It started out with only the Gray Matters fabric collection, but I ended up adding other yellows and grays from my LQS for more variety.  I found the inspiration for this quilt HERE. I'm fairly certain I got the colors just right for my niece.  We were at a baby shower together recently, and she gave the mom-to-be a baby blanket in these exact colors, polka dots and all!! I couldn't get a good picture of the loopy quilting.

• Pattern:  None, just random width strips sewn together in a brick fashion ... sort of.

• Batting:  100% cotton
• Backing:  A yellow and gray polka dot on white background from the Gray Matters collection with a strip of solid gray at the top and bottom.
• Quilting:  All over loopy loops in white polyester thread on Mrs.Singer, my antique 31-15 mounted on a quilting frame.
• Binding:  Scrappy, double fold, attached by machine with 45-degree mitered corners.
• Value:  Bright and sunny for a special niece!

Sunny Bricks - A Gray and Yellow Baby Quilt

I had fun making this sunny gray and yellow modern baby quilt.  The fabrics are the Gray Matters collection along with various other grays and yellows from my local quilt shop. I call leftovers "lay-EF'-toe-furs" to give them a sophisticated French flair.  This sunny quilt is made from lay-EF'-toe-furs from a graduation quilt for my niece.  No, you didn't miss that post, because I haven't finished that quilt yet!  It is on Mrs.Singer's rails being quilted. More lay-EF'-toe-furs in the backing. I can see this quilt with a delicious baby playing on it, eyes crossed while trying to focus on the busy patterns. Straight-line quilting is not my favorite to do, but this modern quilt seemed to ask for it. ... Yummy scrappy binding ... Quilt Stats:

• Size:  39" x 42"
• Fabric:  Gray Matters by Jacqueline Savage McFee for Camelot Cottons and other fabrics from my local quilt shop.  Backing includes a solid gray.
• Batting:  100% cotton, thin
• Quilting:  Straight-line in light gray thread.
• Binding:  Scrappy, double fold, attached by machine for durability, 45-degree mitered corners
• Value:  Super sunny for a boy or a girl!

Dream On Quilt, a.k.a. "Fit For a Princess" Finished!

Introducing "Dream On", a retro, funky quilt full of life!  Mrs.Singer, happily quilting away again, made quick work of my "Fit For a Princess" quilt, which upon completion received a new name, "Dream On."  She is a very sparkly, pretty quilt!

I also made two coordinating standard sized pillow shams out of the scraps.  I have a pile of half-square triangles left over from the block corners, and there are enough to make a lap quilt when I sash them with white!  To whittle my stash, I am doing my best to not put ANY pieces of a fabric collection back on the shelves, so I am committed to whipping up the coordinating lap quilt very soon!  I find I very rarely don't go back to little pieces of scraps and make anything with them, and they just sit around moping and feeling sorry for themselves.  I'm working hard to keep the grumbling down in the fabric closet!

My eyes really need a place to rest on a quilt, and the white strips provide the perfect balance for the super funky fabrics!

• Batting:  Warm and Natural 100% cotton
• Value:  Dreamy!
