Sunnyside Baby Quilt Kit in Play on Tonals!

I am excited to share that Connecting Threads has kitted the Sunnyside quilt pattern in the Baby size in their beautiful fabric collection called Play on Tonals. This quilt kit includes all the fabric for the quilt top and binding, along with a printed quilt pattern so that you can create your very own Baby Sunnyside quilt!

Sunnyside is a quick and easy, Fat Quarter friendly design that includes six sizes - Baby, Throw, Large Throw, Twin, Queen, and King. Sunnyside is named after a town near where I grew up, and the quilt is reminiscent of both sunshine and gray skies. I love the yellow and gray contrast in this quilt! It's so bright and cheery!

Sunnyside Quilt in Blues and Pinks by Susan!

Susan made this Sunnyside quilt in blues and pinks, and it turned out beautifully! The stars are twinkling across the quilt. The texture of the quilting is amazing, and I'm admiring the flat quilt and corners. She did a great job!

Sunnyside is a fat quarter friendly quilt pattern that includes 6 sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King. The pattern is written to highlight two colorways, but one colorway could be substituted with a rainbow of colors for a twist to the design.

Sunnyside Throw Quilt in Brights and Gold by Mari!

This stunning Sunnyside quilt is made by Mari from The Academic Quilter! Mari is hosting the Hands 2 Help quilt drive this year, so be sure to check out her blog to learn more. :)

Mari's quilt is the Throw size, made with bright stars mixed with golden stars. This is the first Sunnyside quilt I've seen with one of the stars made with a mix of colors, and it's fantastic!

Sunnyside Baby Quilt in Aqua and Gray!

I have the cutest Sunnyside baby quilt to share with you today! I made this quilt a few months ago for display in the local quilt shop.

Sunnyside is a fun way to feature two colorways. I've made the Throw size in Yellow and Gray, which you can see right here.

The Sunnyside quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts pattern shop.

All the Sizes!

The Sunnyside quilt pattern includes 6 sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King - so you'll use the pattern more than once. I like to include both the Lap and Throw sizes whenever possible since we come in all sizes, and a Throw can be too big for some and a Lap too small for others. :)

Longarm Quilting

This Baby quilt was quilted with Wandering Spirals, a modern dense design that will wear well over time. The thread is light gray, quilted on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher.

Precut Friendly!

The Sunnyside quilt pattern is Fat Quarter friendly. The background fabric is also calculated in Fat Quarters so it's easy to make it scrappy, along with the stars.

Fat Quarter Shop often has single-color fat quarter bundles that they've curated, and they work perfectly for Sunnyside. They have the perfect gray fat quarter bundle right here. Search the word Spectrum on their sight for these bundles. You can find aqua fat quarter bundles on Etsy right here, too.

Modern HST Quilt

Sunnyside is a modern HST half-square triangle quilt. It's a nice and easy quilt to sew up. I made this Baby quilt in about a day.

I don't make Baby quilts that often, but they sure are a fast finish! I really need to make more of them. This quilt is such a favorite of mine that I wish it were larger, but the Baby size was perfect for display in the local quilt shop.

Sunnyside Quilt Kit in True Colors by Tula Pink!

I'm super excited to share with you that Sunnyside has been kitted by Quilted Works in St. George, Utah! Isn't it stunning in a rainbow of Tula Pink! I sure think so.

This quilt kit is available at Quilted Works.

And I love it when you all take my patterns and make them your own. I had never envisioned Sunnyside in more than two colors as shown in yellow and gray in the pattern cover below! Now a multi-colored version is on my must-make list. 💕

I support quilt shops that purchase my quilt patterns and would normally direct you to their shop to purchase the pattern if you weren't interested in the quilt kit. It appears that Quilted Works is not selling the pattern separately on their website, so the link to the Sunnyside quilt pattern in my shop is right here.

Sunnyside Lap Quilt in Yellows and Grays!

There is nothing like the recipient of a gift heading out of town to college to get the rockets firing and a quilt finished! This is a graduation quilt for a special friend moving to attend college in California. Sunnyside in yellows and grays reflects the sunny skies of California where she is headed and the gray skies of a winter in Bellingham, Washington.

This quilt pattern is named Sunnyside because it's a town near where I grew up, and the quilt is reminiscent of sunshine. It's most always sunny there and a pleasant enough place if one overlooks the incessant smell of the animal feed lots. Just sayin'! As I've often said, naming quilts designs is still a mystery to me, but this one came fairly easily.

The fabric is made from two curated FQ bundles from Fat Quarter Shop - Sunflower Spectrum and an Art Gallery gray bundle. I can't find the bundle on FQS right now. These bundles made it so easy to get a wide variety of fabrics, and I love that Art Gallery fabrics do not fray!! They have a lovely hand and are my favorite fabrics to work with.

The graduate is pursuing a degree in Engineering, so a math equation backing was the obvious choice for her. This fabric is Science Fair which comes in several colorways. Click here to check it out. And then perhaps the spiral quilting indicates waves at the beaches in both California and Washington. This patterns is FQ friendly and there is a strip left from each FQ that is perfect for binding, so the binding is pieced with every other strip gray and yellow in 21" lengths.

Fabric: Art Gallery Sunflower Spectrum and an Art Gallery FQ bundle in gray. The whites are from a FQ bundle of Modern Background by Moda.
Batting: Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 cotton/poly
Backing: Science Fair in gray.
Quilting: Spirals in white thread on Gratitude, my Handiquilter Fusion with Prostitcher.
