Picket Fence Rectangular Throw Quilt in One Fine Day by Bonnie and Camille!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing a Picket Fence quilt in the Rectangular Throw size in Bonnie and Camille's One Fine Day fabric collection on a navy background.  The Picket Fence quilt pattern includes two layout options, one with all of the pieced blocks oriented vertically, as shown in this quilt, and the other with the pieced blocks alternating horizontally and vertically by row.

This fabric collection with its wide variety of prints in navy, aqua, red, orange, pink, and green, works well with a dark background, and the large pieces in Picket Fence lets these beautiful fabrics really shine.  Many times in quilting we cut fabric into very small pieces, and it is rewarding to keep favorite prints as large pieces in this quilt.

The Picket Fence quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

All the Sizes and Two Layout Options!

The Picket Fence quilt pattern includes 7 sizes!

     *  Baby  48" x 48"

     *  Throw  67" x 67"

     *  Rectangular Throw  57" x 76"

     *  Twin  67" x 86"

     *  Square Queen  95" x 95"

     *  Rectangular Queen  95" x 105"

     *  King  105" x 105"

Two layout options really change up the look of the quilt design.  The option with the pieced blocks alternating horizontally and vertically is shown below, also in One Fine Day by Bonnie and Camille.  All of the other pictures are of the quilt with the pieced blocks placed vertically.

Longarm Quilting Design

The quilting design is a swirling digital design using navy thread.  Quilted on my Handi Quilter Fusion with Pro Stitcher.

The Picket Fence quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

This quilt was made by my sewist, Kare, and quilted and bound by me.

Picket Fence Rectangle Throw Quilt in One Fine Day by Bonnie and Camille!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing another quilt that was finished last year and didn't make it on the blog!

This is Picket Fence in the vertical layout, one of two layout options included in the quilt pattern.  The other layout in the pattern is every other row of pieced blocks turned, which changes the look of the quilt completely.

Picket Fence uses precut layer cakes in the smaller sizes and precut layer cakes and jelly rolls in the Queen and King sizes; and specific instructions are given on how to use each type of precut.

The Picket Fence quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

The Picket Fence Quilt Pattern Features

Do you have fabrics that you love so much that you find it impossible to cut into small pieces?  This pattern is perfect for those fabrics.  Use your favorites for the large blocks and use your less favorite fabrics in the pieced blocks.  A variety of hues in the pieced blocks makes them sparkle more.

Picket Fence includes 7 sizes which pretty much has you covered for any project!  I ♥ to spoil you with as many sizes as possible in my patterns (and I also love to do the math)!

  • Baby
  • Square Throw
  • Rectangular Throw
  • Twin
  • Square Queen
  • Rectangular Queen
  • King
This quilt pattern is quick and easy with strip piecing.  Yep, even layer cakes can be used for strip piecing!

Strip Piecing is sewing strips together to create a "strip set", pressing the seams a certain way, and then sub-cutting "segments" from the strip set, and then re-sewing the segments with other segments or strips to create a quilt block.  It is important in strip piecing that an accurate 1/4" seam be used so the strip sets end up the correct height.

Oh, Those Fabrics!

Those beautiful fabrics are Sunday Stroll by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics.  Just so sweet with the large and small florals, plaids, ditties, and tone-on-tones in scrumptious red, pink, aqua, apple green, orange, and navy.

You can find Sunday Stroll right here.

For a different look, the quilt pictured below is turned the opposite way on the bed, with the pieced blocks placed horizontally.

Longarm Quilting

This quilt is quilted in a swirling design in navy thread on my HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher.

This quilt top was made by Kare, one of my professional sewists.

Mini Picket Fence quilt pattern - Table Runner and Table Toppers - 4 Sizes!

Did you know that the Picket Fence quilt pattern is also available in the Table Runner and Table Topper size?  Yes!  The Mini Picket Fence pattern includes four sizes.  The small topper and small runner use one 5" charm pack, and the large topper and large runner use two 5" charm packs - easy peasy!

The Mini Picket Fence Printed pattern is sold out, and the PDF Download version is available right here in the shop.

Skip to My Lou Quilt Pattern - Throw Quilt in Sunday Stroll by Bonnie and Camille!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Meet Skip to My Lou, a fun charm pack or layer cake quilt pattern.  This is a Throw quilt made with Sunday Stroll by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics.  This quilt top was made by my sewist Kare.

Oh Those Fabrics!

Sunday Stroll is just as beautiful as previous Bonnie and Camille fabric collections, and includes their signature colors and prints. This one adds a new color - gray! There's gray, red, apple green, pink, aqua, and white, and of course they've included beautiful florals, checks, and stripes! You'll find Sunday Stroll right here, here, and here.

The light background is the white with navy dots from the Sunday Stroll collection, and the dark background is the navy with white dots, also from the collection.

Longarm Quilting

This quilt is quilted with a figure-eight design in white thread on my Handi Quilter Fusion with ProStitcher.

All the Quilt Sizes!

Skip to My Lou includes all of the quilt sizes - 5 in all - Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  Whatever quilt size you are wanting to make, this pattern has you covered!

Precut Friendly!

Skip to My Lou is a 5" charm square- and 10" layer cake-friendly quilt pattern.  Choose light and dark contrasting fabrics, and you're all set!  In this quilt, the lightest and darkest fabrics in the Sunday Stroll collection weren't removed, and it turned out just fine, so don't worry about this overly much.

Binding Love!

Polka dot binding makes a fun finish to the quilt.  Be brave - make your bindings pop!  :)

The Skip to My Lou quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Make It Scrappy Quilt Pattern - Sunday Stroll by Bonnie and Camille!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm excited to share a Make It Scrappy quilt made with Sunday Stroll by Bonnie and Camille!  This is a charm square or layer cake quilt pattern, and scraps from your bins work just as well!

The background in this quilt is white, and the setting triangles and border are a beautiful gray/gray check, paired with a gray and mint striped binding.

This quilt top was made by my sewist Kare.

Includes All the Sizes!

Make It Scrappy includes 6 sizes - Baby, Lap, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  This is the Throw size.  I love to do all of the math to figure out the different quilt sizes for you!

Precut and Scraps Friendly

Make It Scrappy is perfect for layer cakes, charm packs, or your scrap bins!  To use scraps, just cut the number of squares in the size indicated in the pattern, and you're all set.

Longarm Quilting

This Make It Scrappy quilt is quilted with a digital design called Woven Windows, a modern take on an old-fashioned quilting design (at least that's how I see it), Baptist Fans.  I love the texture this design adds to quilts.  I used white thread, and the quilting was done on my Handi Quilter Fusion with ProStitcher.

Zippy Binding Love!

My favorite bindings are stripes, plaids, and dots to add a lovely finishing touch to a quilt, so of course I chose the gray with mint stripe fabric for the binding!

Make It Scrappy is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

A Scrappy Life Throw Quilt in Bonnie and Camille!

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!

Today I'm sharing a new quilt pattern with you - meet A Scrappy Life!

My Favorite Fabrics!

A Scrappy Life is made with my favorite fabrics - Bonnie and Camille!  I pulled from my collection of various B&C lines to make this Throw size quilt.  The border fabric is from The Good Life, and the backing is a floral print on navy from the Smitten collection.

You'll find The Good Life fabric right here, and you'll find Smitten fabric right here

I used Kona Nautical for the background, setting triangles, and binding.  Nautical is my favorite navy fabric, and it coordinates with so many fabric collections.  I purchase it by the bolt from Fat Quarter Shop.

There is a story behind this quilt...

This A Scrappy Life quilt was actually made in June of 2020 while I was sequestered in our shop after returning home from a trip in which I had potentially been exposed to the virus.  This wasn't a very happy time in my summer.  It was very lonely being out there by myself.

The upside is that I set up my sewing out there, and I sewed a lot and worked on patterns that needed written.

Why ever it took me until last week to get this quilt quilted, I have no answer!  But at least she is completed and oh, so snuggly!

Includes 4 Sizes!

The A Scrappy Life quilt pattern includes four sizes - Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  This quilt is the Throw size.

Most all of my patterns include multiple sizes.  I give you as many options as is possible so my patterns have true value for you.

Fat Quarter Friendly!

A Scrappy Life is fat quarter friendly!  This is great news for those who want to use their stash and/or simply pick up a fat quarter bundle and get started right away.  This quilt is made with Bonnie and Camille fat quarters I've had in my stash for awhile.

This pattern would also work great as a scrappy quilt!

Quilting Design

A Scrappy Life was quilted by me on a HandiQuilter Fusion with ProStitcher using navy thread.  The simple, yet very effective, quilting design is Woven Wind, available here.  I love this design!  It looks really nice and is very easy to line up on the longarm.

This is A Scrappy Life in Violeta by Connecting Threads.  You can find this quilt kit right here.  It's the Twin size.  Photo credit Connecting Threads.
